I'm not much of a medal collector but I've had this one for quite some time: OBVERSE

Medal for the 1866 war between Prussia and Austria / Bavaria . There are 3 of the same type with different lettering : Koenig graetz , Unseren treuen Kriegern und Mainarmee . All issued by Prussia and by my Great-Grandfather called the EK of 1866 , the Iron Cross of 1866 . He got the Koenig graetz one , since he took part in that battle in a Prussian Garde Pioneer unit . Hope this helps , Bernd

Let's move this interesting thread over to the Imperial forum, Wednesday, June 6th. That should give ample advance warning. --dj--Joe
