My friend found this eagle in the front pocket of a ww2 US uniform he bought.I bought it from him for 75.00,looks real to me, what about you,a little rough around the edges,removed from uniform looks like light grey color ,anyone know the value and era?

It is an early eagle. In the Beaver books you will find some tunics with this eagle style.

Hammerhead from 40-43,if you wanna sell it let me know I have a tunic with one on it and have been trying to get a few loose examples.Yours is very nice.

For my view I would place this eagle earlier like 38 or 39.

Thanks guys,My friend bought the uniform for 8.00(but thats his luck,all I ever find in the pockets is common US stuff if anything)he was happy and I was happy.So you think it could possibly be pre war?Were these machine made or what?

I dont know,but I think these were the earliest types used after the "postschutz" type.The one below I think is earlier than the one above maybe simultaneous and different manufacturers? Who knows? These are machine embroidered.I agree that they appeared in the late 30s but the type above maybe a tad later.Just an opinion. Although now that I compare they look to be the same types.Oh well, I can only strive to be perfect
