Too much money for a rough KS98 bayonet for my taste. Etched bayonets are not that scarce/rare and the condition on this one is not what I would want to spend that much money for, IMHO.

That was what I almost thought, too. Problem is I cant seem to find another one for sale, to compare the prices, and Im a complete newbie to bayos. Wittman has one like this, but in much nicer condition, and he wants 1295 (if Im not mistaking) for it. But I cant find anything this in this bad condition, to see how my they should cost. But Im sure youre right. Its too expensive, probably. Thanks

J,
That pattern in minty condition can be had for 5-600. I sold the same one with the knot and frog in Louisville last year. Should have kept it, but even 1295.00 for that one would not fly and it was mint.
Best,
Kris

I dont normally bother too much on the quality of my blades, being more interested in having an example, however with etched dress blades the value is in the condition, a rough combat bayonet is excusable as is a very rare one (i have one that was one of only 250 made in 1902 so having one is very uncommon so condition was not an option) as a place holder, but for dress blades go for as good as you can get, another one will always come around again. If th eprice drops to no more than 200 then that would be an aceptable sort of price

I would be interested in buying these etched dress bayonets that you've seen plunty of. I go to the SOS and MAX and am lucky to see just a few real etched dress examples, and usually these are the common etches in rather uncollectable condition as the subject example here. Do you have some for sale in collectable condition?

That being the case, please touch base with me with any etched dress bayonets you have or have yet to find. Thank you in advance.
