Very nice Bernd. Every show I go to I look for BZP items but find very little if at all.

I would love to eventually be able to find a Bahnschutz uniform but it is nearly impossible. The Bahnschutz were the smallest Paramilitary forces during the Third Reich era and hence, are extremelly rare. To me, they are also the most undervalued artifacts on the market.

Nice bahnschutz Polizei insignia Bernd.
Here is the light blue BZP uniform. Of course, there is also a dark blue example that was worn inside the Reich as well.

Just wonderful ! Do you think we could get a closer look at the tabs and shoulder boards ? That would be my "dream uniform", if only I could get one. Rick, was the light blue uniform only worn by those troops stationed "outside" the Reich boundaries in comparaison to the black blue uniforms ? What were those countries considered as being "outside" the Reich ? Is it like Poland or Holland ? Didn't know that they had Bahnschutz troops stationed there. Thanks for the explanation.

Pat,
Yes, it seems that regulations allowed the older dark navy blue uniform to be worn inside the Reich but the light blue uniform was supposed to be worn outside in places like Poland and Holland. Railway Police authority went wherever the tracks ran so when German trains were on track outside Germany the BZP were there. They went into all the occupied countries to operate and maintain the railroads.
Here is a closeup of the collar tabs. Notice that there are two lines of piping as this grey Nebenfarbe indicates this fellow is a Reserve-Policeman. That basically means he is on a different pay scale and is not a permanent civil service type employee.

Closeup view of the shoulder boards. Notice they also have grey piping. Interestingly, BZP boards did not have cardboard stiffiners so originals are rather "floppy." This fellow was stationed at the 15th RBD Bezerk and the tunic and trousers are so marked as well.

Finally, a view of the sleeve eagle. This one is pretty well formed but often they are sort of chicken-like renditions of this distinctive eagle.

Thank you for the great pics and explanations on the BZP history. This is an amazing uniform and I'm very envious. If by any chance, you ever decide to sell it, pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase, let me know about it.

George, I'm in full agreement with Pat. That's a great uniform and would love to own it or any BZP uniform. I only know of one other in a collection, very rare. I'd probably actually sell off some of my collection to own one. Did the BZP ever wear fieldgray uniforms? A dealer I know says they did. His grandfather was in the BZP and he said he has the uniform and period photos. I've yet to see them though. I did pick up a fieldgrey visor hat years ago that looks good to me but I've been told by a knoweldgeable friend that the BZP never wore fieldgrey uniforms. I thought it possible because towards the end of the war, didn't the BZP come under control of the SS? Here's a quick shot of my BZP draw.

Pat, that's another thing that's debated as being real. Alot of people believe it's just an Army with the white paint removed from the grip. Maybe one day a photo in wear will surface, until then it's up for debate. I still need a 2nd model. Here are the only other items I have. An overseas hat, the fieldgray visor and a belt & buckle.

Very nice Bahnschutz stuff guys!
My computer crashed awhile back taking all my photos that were not backed up. The dark blue uniform is very hard to photograph but here are some insignia shots. Sorry for the poor quality.
First, a shot of the sleeve eagle. These are on dark black backing to match the tunic. Some folks think these are early SS eagles but they are not.

Here is a shot of the standard "active service" collar tabs without the grey Nebenfarbe secondary piping.

Pat, you always show the most beautiful items. Simply stunning. George, when you get a chance can you show a full length photo of the dark blue tunic? Doug, I love that cuff title. I've only seen ones in books before. Thanks for showing it.
