Here is another medal bar that I am a proud custodian of...
This Prussian bar is from a veteran of both the 1866 Austrian War and the 1870 Franco-Prussian War. This bar was most likely worn with pride by an Prussian Senior NCO(with much service time!).
The medals in the bar are:
1. General Honor Decoration
2. 1870 Frano-Prussian Campaign Medal
3. 1866 Austrian War Campaign Medal
4. 1913 Reserve Landwehr Medal (long service)
5. Centenial Medal(1901)

Here is the back...
It really blows my mind that the person who wore this medal bar was awarded his first medal the year after the conclusion of our Civil War(1865). Try to find any kind of US militaria from that time period(besides spend ammunition found on the battlefields... for any price! It is next to impossible. I feel truly lucky to have something like this that has passed the test of time!

Very nice bar Paul. When you figure that during this period there was not the "file by and grab an award" attitude that came latter in 1917+. Here is a guy that just did his job as he was told and that is what armies are made of.

I know what you mean! This Sgt had lots of serious service time, based upon his bar. This is better than any EK!(to me anyway). An EK was awarded for moment's worth of heroic deeds. This bar isan accumilation of one man's contribution to his nation for a span of time no less than 47 years! Now that, to me, is impressive!

You may have missed my recent posting here on the Saxon St. Henry Medal. It is part of an 1866/1870 medal bar.
I would like to publicly thank Bill Warda for his help in showing a pic of my bar and in translating the german explanation of this medal for me. Great guy!!!!
