I think they must have made the grip out of wood from Yggdrasil!(obscure Nordic Reference) The SS was all into that Mystic stuff! 3FL

Thats killer, I love finds like this, is there any story as to how and where it was found, I wonder what condition the blade is in if there is anything left of it. Just chuck a couple of insignias in the new custom grip and your ready to go .
If you do end up with it keep us posted as to what you decide to do with it.

Louie, do you know where that dag came from...it must have been in Germany, do you know what town? Was this buried in someones backyard, or was it from the US and some kid lost it..curious....Tiep

If I can talk him out of it, I already have plans on what to do with it! I am going to leave it as is but clean and polish out the root, and maybe just try to knock some of the rust off the scabbard so it looks a little nicer and use it for a show table or desk ornament. I can't concieve of a better conversation starter! 3FL

I guess these daggers are toxic. Look what it did to the tree!

If I do end up with it, it is going to be awful hard to resist trying to find out what kind of dagger it is. Let's see, if I can just loosen up the scabbard a little more I can see the blade......OOPs! Dammit! 3FL

Hell man..leave it like that. Call it "as is"...definately one of a kind. The only instance where a bad grip will raise the value.

Hi Guys, Well I managed to score it off the guy! I will post some more photos and get as much of the story as I can and post it also as soon as it arrives to me. I ended up paying about $200 for it! Am I nuts? I did find out, so far, that it came from a worksite in Berlin where some new apartments were being built! 3FL

Looks like the scabbard ball may have taken a hit - I would pass.

A dagger of this renown should have a name. We're all familiar with the Crack Pipe Redemption dagger in the notable Manfred Vogel collection and I think it would be fitting to christen this one as the Bill Stump Memorial Dagger. If Bill were still with us I expect he would heartly agree with a few suitable if in fact unprintable for general consumption comments.
