I seen where another forum was having a free raffle, and thought the bayonet forum would try it. The prize is pictured below. This raffle is for US German Daggers.Com members only. The reason for only U. S. members is the shipping costs overseas. I will have another one for non US members later. How do you enter, simple post a photo of your favorite Bayonet (Dress or Field) and any story behind it. Contest starts now and ends June 20 at Noon Central standard time.

OK, I'll start. My favorite bayonet, fortunately I have it in my collection. Knot & frog were add ons but they're similarly conditioned. I have doubts this bayonet was ever issued or worn, came to me covered in cosmoline. I just knew it was legit once I helt it. Well made, heavy & feels good in the hand, just like a good date Smile One of my first bayonets, I sincerely doubt it'll ever leave my place.

Fantastic piece Billy and very difficult to find in that condition. I think Houston has one in similar condition.

Very nice, and very scarce, bayonets guys!

Picking a favorite bayonet is sort of like asking one to pick a favorite child. At any rate, here is one of my favorites. This is a long Prussian Police clamshell by Eickhorn in gold that has only been altered by adding the 1936 Polizei eagle to the grips.

Wow hard act to follow.

I thought I would post one of my favorites and I have many, all for different reasons. Here's an Imperial named Honor Bayonet, divisional gift given for bravery in the face of the enemy.

I can't wait to see some of the other pieces to be posted. Thanks Terry for giving me the oppurtunity to post one of my favorites one more time.

Steve.

Terry,

You know you made this difficult. It's hard to choose a favorite.

I'm still looking for someone to post a late war 1945 dated K98 with a little info since these aren't my forte.

Denny,

Nice group of Pionners. I'm still missing one of the four. I almost posted one of mine. A short monogramed full bird Alcoso.

Steve.

Steve,
I'll bet the Pioneer you are missing is the short blade/unclipped pommel version. I looked for mine for several years. Let's see your monogrammed Alcoso...
Here is a picture you might find interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn't belong to me. Someone sent me the picture a few years ago.

Terry,
Don's "Honor, Strength, Freedom" examples are quite beautiful. Do you know, are all of them Eickhorn pieces?

Steven C.
A beautiful example and would be a "highlight" to any bayonet collection.

Von Ryan: The middle one is the Henckels that I purchased from you. It has a slightly larger proportioned hilt. It is flanked by 2 Eicks.

Aaahhh, one of "my children". They adopt well to any family. Those Henckels examples are a bit more difficult to find as I didn't know they even existed till after "the book" was published. Congradulations....

Interesting there's been little response. I know we have many more bayo collectors than those who are participating in the raffel. I think it's just about fair to say that all of us edged weapons collectors have or had at one time a TR bayo in our collections.

Addijos,

Both Don's and Janjan's are the same type. They were made by two known makers. Von Ryan, in his book, which is his avatar has one pictured on page 123, they are very tough to find.

Denny,

On the Pioneer that I'm missing, it's the long unclipped. I'll start a new thread in a couple of weeks with some monogrammed pieces. I know that you've been wanting to see a couple of the others I have. Love the '45 dated pieces. I don't have one either.

Steve.

Steve,
Good luck finding the long unclipped Pioneer bayo for your collection. I'll keep an eye out for you also. Your beautiful monogrammed one certainly helps to make up for the missing one....

I want to add, this bayo is my first! I intend to restore the grips a bit, ect. I will post it again when complete. I sorta feel like "Cinderella" with this old piece. Now, this forum,(and Terry), have given this old bayo, it's own "Story". Cheers, Pauli
