This imperial pattern 1896 buckle is from the kingdom of Saxony ruled by the Wettin royal family. King Johann (1854-1873) after the Franco-Prussian war autherized the 107th infantry regiment to ware this style buckle to recognise thier bravery. This distiction endured from 1871-1918. Not a bad looking buckle for 113 years old.
