Can anyone give me any info on this? How common, and any valuation would be greatly appreciated. I'm posting for a gentleman I know. I'm going to hit the other 2 forums with the same post as well. This was issued to an American US Army officer during the war by the Army.
Thanks, T

Actually they are not that rare. I have probably had 25-35 of them thru the years. They were mostly issued to the AAF Pilots and navigators, value $25-$100. They seem to have come down in price in the last few years. The best ones that i ever had were of the Normany beachhead, (3) of them thanks Bob

I think this is one that was also issued to Airborne Troops, which helps the price up a bit.

$150-175 on these wouldn't surprise me. I have seen this one go higher, but as was mentioned they are a bit 'flat' on the market lately.

Realize that this post is over a year old. I came across one of the identical silk escape maps as the one above. It has the same date, 2nd Edition, etc. It was issued to my father, who was a Captain in the 319th, 80th Divison, General Patton's Third Army during WW2, He told me it was concealed in his jacket lining.
Is there a recommended way to get all the folds out of the silk? I'd like to have it mounted professionally, but I don't want to end up causing any damage to the map.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Robert
