Seeking positive feedback on this recent acquisition. Please, no bad mouthing the piece, as you have never handled it and never will, as I intend to keep it as the capstone to my fabulous SS collection. I will however be glad to provide photographs to anyone wishing to include this rare specimen in a reference book. Cool

The scabbard looks re-painted and the blade tip looks off but other than that..it looks good!

Lower crossguard doesn't look right Too much tang clearance. Obvious repaint. Grip looks redone. The only thing this dagger has going for it is the Rohm dedication. Perfect example of his signature 6 hours into Oktoberfest using an early production etch-a-sketch.

Super-rare pre-prototype, in house, 1933 Rohm dedication. - Congrats! Cool
My only concern is the grip shows the later standard grip eagle than the rare 1929 "pointy eagle" version. Perhaps a later "field" upgrade?

SWEET.
Is it a vet pick up or directly from the family in Germany?

"Excellent textbook Rohm dedicated SS dagger. This beauty has everything you want to see in a Rohm piece! Photos are very poor, and do not do this piece justice." SmileYou made my day.. Big Grin

Whether or not you are HAPPY with it is all that really matters! However I personally would not own it in my collection. IMO, but what do I know?

So Gailen which one is it? You like it or it is a Joke? I’m so offended by this; on again - off again, make up the rules as you go along dagger popularity contest based on nothing more than 100 years of collecting experience that I think I’ll sell off my collection tomorrow! Joke indeed! Oh and IMO, I think this is Fun!

Tom, I think your right, It was on Craig's site. One of his very very special offerings! I think he sold it to Andy for about five times more than what he usually sells them for. I always wondered where all Andy's rare collectibles came from! That's what I heard anyway.Big Grin

PS: Hey Andy, if you want retribution catch Craig in one of his "bathroom moods". Big Grin

Oh yeah! Must be 21 years old, no friends or employees of Max Promotions are allowed to enter. In case of a draw winners will share room. All who enter must be from at least a second world country.

OK, now I'm starting to see the picture...

Andy flies Craig out...Craig says No Prob on all these since you got them from me...but if you can get Gailen to "sign-off" on this early exotika Rohm, especially on a GDC thread, I've got a Russian collector .... Bingo!

Is that right Gailen?
Ops..I meant .."Ain't that right Ron"?...

Oyh..you guys..now you got me con-fused! MERCY! Razz

Your close, If Craig can sell the piece I get 20% of the selling price for stating it's real. Andy gets 10% for being part of the initial set-up.
