7/83,Rihard Plumacher,with Feldherrnhalle Enlisted Mans hanger/frog attached.My question is should we class the maker as scarce wth the 7/83 mark and not the actual maker mark.Has anyone seen this style hange before,I would rate it as pretty rare.

Seen but not that common.

Here is mine, already once shown in the forum. They exist (obviously ) but they seem to be pretty rare and desirable for sure.
At least i had to pay a fortune for mine and immediatly afterwards was asked to sell it .

Same manufacturer but without the word "Kernstück".
Perhaps because of the rivet???
As they are RZM marked these hangers were officially items not any privatly made improvements.

That's one way to impress the ladies!!!
Nice to see that there are others out there in good hands.Very nice dagger Dippy.
There are thoughts that these were actually used by drummers in the bands so that the dagger could hang vertically from the belt at the rear,any other thoughts or opinions welcome.

They are also seen in period pics of SA men competing in field events, where the men are competing with full equipment etc..

It would not be desireable to have the dagger swinging around from the regular hanger in these instances..

I would not consider a M7/83 RZM SA as scarce..

NICE daggers! AS KURSK said I have seen pics(I will see if I can locate the pic) of SA troopers navigating a obsticle coarse of sorts with field kit on including entrenching tools but instead of bayonets with frogs strapped to the outside of the entrenching tools they had there SA daggers! ALL of them, 15 or so all had there daggers mounted like this with leather frogs, alot like this one! Many that I could see clearly had frogs with the "curved leather piece" that form fit the bottom of the top fitting of the scabbard.I have NEVER seen a period pic of these being worn any other way.have you guys??I have seen just a few of these for sale in many years! I would love to have one! Kevin.

Thanks for the info.My initial thought was that Richard Plumacher was a scarce maker,only 1000 daggers made according to Fisher Ref.my question is are those approx 1000 maker marked or do they include RZM marked 7/83's,perhaps it is obvious to some but not to me I'm afraid so any help will be appreciated.

RZM marked daggers are not included in the rarity rating.

Ivan,Raymond is correct, i believe the rating is for pre-RZM daggers..we have yet to really establish a list for the RZM SA models, but perhaps we should..they are more common(longer production period) and more affordable than the earlier maker marked daggers..

While a lot of earlier makers continued into the RZM period, many did not, and some made very few...

This particular maker seems to have been, while not prolific in the mid to late thirties,able to make enough to be noticeable in todays market place.

I would say i have had at least 4 in the last three years..

This is of course, just my experience, but they are out there..

That was what I thought,but was not sure,that's why I asked,I knew I would get the answer here.I actually bought the dagger to get the hanger as the dealer would not separate them.I'm more than happy with it though,it is a nice clean piece.Thanks for all the help.
