to be honest i did have a serious point
which is to the best of my understanding the police never had sleeve eagles on long coats

so did the postcard artiest simply add a sleeve eagle make it easy for the viewer to see a policeman?

is it then possible that eagles were then field sewn on to long coats after this postcard appeared? and that some long coats with sleeve eagles are period and not fakes?
