Hello all, I am interested in finding an 1937 Nurnburg Commemorative knife, but wanted to ask the experts about them. I was unable to find anything about searching this forum. I know there is a lot of controversy over the Olympic DJ (I have one) but wondered if there was any debate over these Nurnburg knives or if they were 100% known original. Also are there any other commemorative DJ knives akin to the Nurnburg and Olympic? Thanks, John

The knives were sold as commerative pieces at the rally according to a man I met years ago who attended. As to the knives in general I have never heard of a controversy. I have 33 to 36 and maybe a 38 if I can ever find it. Most of mine are Puma and came with leather scabbards. There again, these were made to SELL and you will find variations. These are just my opinions and this is not difinitive on the issue. Anymore I understand the reluctance of many to post anything because of all the negative emails you get about how stupid you are. Botton line-YOU must be happy with what you buy. Russ

The onyl one I have ever seen was the one I barly missed on the lakesidetrader site. I did not realize they made them for from then one year. Did all of them have the same tri-color blade detication?

There are many old fakes of this knife with a couple of makers-Emil Voos for example. Most of the fakes don't have the metal reinforced leather scabbard. There is a metal piece along the cutting edge and lower part of the leather scabbard. Without this? Watch out. Check Repro-Reco. by FJS

Thank you very much for the information, but I am not sure that I understand the history of the knife. If I understand correctly it was produced for sale as a commemorative item for all Nurnburg rallies (at least) between 1933 and 1938. Did they all have an identical tri-color blade dedication (aside from the year etched on the blade) from year to year? If so wouldn't this make them MUCH more common than the Olympic commemorative dagger? If so why are they similarly priced?

I think they may only have been made for one or two years-but am not certain--they are very rare if original. The olympic knives are questionable-some like them -most don't--and there are a lot of them. Is your dog dead?--or does he walk around on the ceiling?--Now that's scary!!

Ya, she's cute huh! She's sleeping, but likes to sneak into bed in the middle of the night and sleep like that w/ her head beside me on the pillow. That'll scare the sh*it out of you the first few times when you wake up. Takes me back to college

Thats a Pitbull isn't it Johnny. I surely won't want to anger it.(Leaven Johnnys daggers alone) Although I've known some pits to be alittle on the wimpy-pampered side that did not have a mean bone in them.

Jo-You bastard! At least now I know who's name to put on the Voo Doo doll. If you are interested in making a very quick buck let me know! Adam- Ja, she's a pit. My wife found her on the side of the road as a puppy, almost starved to death w/ broken legs from being hit by a car. I wasn't happy when she brought the dog home but a wall full of german daggers leaves you with hardly a leg to stand on. Tried to find a home for her but not many people are looking for a pitbull, and those who are, we didn't feel confortable giving her to. Turns out she is a GREAT dog, sweetest I have ever known, but she does guard the house from "strangers"(I have to meet the pizza guy outside, he won't come near the front door anymore, just pulls up and honks the horn) so I think the daggers are safe.
