I found a copy of Life Magazine from 1947 with a US Constabulary soldier on the front and I imagine that relics from that era are probably collectible.

Anybody got anything to show ?

For those looking for a good background site on the USC units here is a good link.

I would also be interested to see what everyone has...Mr. Jerry?

Well, I suppose the iconic figure of the US Constabulary is the painted helmet liner. Here is one for an identified 2nd Lieutenant. I also have his uniforms as part of a grouping.

The only thing I have is a photo of a guy that came into the shop, cool pic though, looking like he could kick your *** without ever getting dirty. Also has his jeep painted up like the helmet.

He mentioned that when they became constabularies in 45 or 46 that they took away their steel helmets and just left them with the liners. I suppose they wanted "sheriffs" and not a "militia"

The constabulary stuff is neat because there really is a wide range of variant patches out there as most were theater made.

Most of the "Circle C Cowboys" came from Armor or Cavalry Regiments.

Right you are Dwight.

These existing regiments were re-designated and re-equipped as Constabulary units. For instance, the 2nd Constabulary Regiment was organized from what was the old 2nd Dragoons in 1836. The 2nd Dragoons evolved into the 2nd Cavalry in 1863, then into the 2nd Armored in 1942. When these units became the 2nd Constabulary in 1946, they also included the 42nd Squadron and the 66th Armored Field Artillery Battalion all under the 2nd Constabulary Brigade.

Here is a view of the Constabulary band playing at the US Constabulary School at Sondhofen.
