Thanks Guys...I try to pick one up at every MAX or SOS that i go to, they are getting tough to come by and i only see them at the bigger shows but the varity is endless and IMHO they are undervalued. Gary yes its the same as yours only my finish has come off mine (didnt realize it until i got it home and looked it over closer). G none of mine are solid silver (i wish).

Beautiful items Rick. The 6the medallion you show(Dem Sieger)what is on the reverse if i may ask? I have the same item...but unfortunately it is not cased. I agree that the variety is endless with these items which makes collecting them fascinating also. I used to pick up items like this uncased but nowadays hesitate to buy them unless they are in their cases. It seems to me that in the past two or three years the prices on these items have skyrocketed. I wonder whether it's because with the growing scarcity of original combat badges etc collectors are turning towards these type of items to buy. Also can I get an idea as to how much(roughly)those NSFK cased items are going for? Again beautiful stuff.

Bill..I will try and post photos of the backs next week, im suppose to be on my way to North Carolina today.As for the NSFK awards, at the last SOS there was a fellow that had about 5 or 6 different ones and they averaged about 500.00 apiece (cased), i think i have seen about 10 different NSFK ones an im sure there are more. The most i have ever paid for one (no.1) was 625.00 but its also the biggest one i have and i think its bronze.If i was ever to start over collecting i think this is the field i would pick, there isnt alot of information out there about them and i have seen them from 150.00 to 800.00 (cased) with the average around 300-400.

Rick thanks much for your reply. They are certainly beautiful pieces and if they are in the 3 and 4 hundred dollar range that is quite acceptable and reasonable i think. I like these non portable items and would buy these over combat badges and the like any day of the week. They are like pieces of art in my opinion.

Your number 7 - the Berlin SA piece; I saw a cased gold one at the 1999 or 2000 MAX in Pittsburg. Evidently there must have been bronze, silver & gold awarded. The guy's (I've forgotten who it was) asking price was $900. Beautiful but expensive. The reason I remember it is because I have a silver one like yours.

Hello again all,
Since we are showing non portable items I figured I'd show a few of mine. The first is an Honor plaque for horse breeding. The second one is the fuhrer plaque,according to Angolia it was an officially recognized award given mostly to middle ranking political and state officials for special achievement. The last item I post is not a plaque or medallion per se but certainly is non portable. It is about 10 inches square,made out of slate or limestone(?)that has been polished engraved and colored and weighs approximately 13 lbs. Thanks for taking a look.

Rick thanks for the comment and as you stated the variety of these items is endless and to me they are almost like a work of art,extremely well done and beautiful pieces. I'm surprised more people don't collect them(not that I'm complaining about it) as compared to other german militaria. Again beautiful items you have & would love to see more if you have them. It would be nice to see a reference book made available about these pieces.

Notice the Polizei Verein logo making up the first letter in the description.

Again guys, beautiful non portables you have. I’d like to show a few that I’ve picked up lately. First up is a NSFK cased medallion for a North East German competition in sightseeing.
Next is a plaque for a 1937 flight by Motorgruppe Schlesein around upper Silesia.
The next one is for an endurance test drive by the Berlin Brandenburg DDAC
The last one I show for now is one I have not seen for sale before & other than an article I found in an academic journal cannot find out anything else about it. I have attached relevant part of the article relating to the medallion. I am sorry for the length of the information regarding it. If anyone can tell me anything else about it or has one I’d love to see it also. It is quite a heavy item for it’s size, weighing in at just under 7 ounces and it’s diameter is roughly 2 ½ inches. Here is an excerpt from the article mentioning this medallion:
“In May 1938, Filippo Sgarlata minted a medallion in honor of Adolf Hitler’s state visit to Rome, Naples, and Florence. Its theme is triumph over a monstrous foe. On one side, a Winged Victory carries a swastika and a fascio littorio in her arms, flanked by the inscription Vis Unita Fortior (Power is Strengthened by Union). On the obverse, Hercules battles the three-headed dog, Cerberus. The capture of the Hellhound Cerberus, who guarded the gates of Hades, was the twelfth and most arduous task assigned to Hercules by Eurystheus. According to the myth, Hercules wrestled the dog, with its lion’s claws and serpents tail, into submission and dragged it out of Hades. Here, the Axis battles the forces of hell. Fascism’s enemy is a supernatural monster associated with the fires of hell. Cerberus is a hybrid of multiple animals and a monstrous freak of nature. Here are a few more plaques I’ve picked up over the years
First is a plaque for a endurance test drive in Brandenburg on June 21 1936 Diameter of the plaque is 3 inches and the maker is Rob Neff, Berlin. Next is a medallion for the National Socialist Student League Lower Saxony Fencing Association. I don’t think I’ve seen too many non-portable items for the Student league so glad to see any others too. Glad to see any non -portable items in general.
Here’s an item I’ve had for a few years that I obtained from another collector. The profile of Hitler on the front, and on the reverse a depiction of a tree with branches growing from it and on the disc a rising sun & swastika. The imagery of the tree with branches & the swastika rising with sun rays would I guess be associated with the rebirth of Germany under National Socialism. This item is made of bronze and including the marble base is about 5 inches high. I had only seen one other like this and that was years ago in Manion’s.
Thanks for taking a look and always glad to see other plaques and non-portables. Always an endless variety of them and all interesting.

Very nice pieces Bill. I must admit that I don't recall seeing a Studentenbund plaque before. What size is it? Is the enamal badge the standard members badge size?
I love the DDAC & NSKK plaques & would have liked to collect them, but there are so many of them so I never bothered to do so.

Hello Dave & Don, thanks for your comments. I was just going thru this thread again and some fantastic stuff people have shown.
Don, I didn’t think I had seen to many others so thanks for confirming that thought. The plaque itself is only 2 ¼ inches in diameter and the studentenbund insignia is 1 “x ½ inch. Yes, it seems like there is an endless amount of not only DDAC and NSKK plaques but for so many other organizations in general. I used to wonder why there wasn’t a book out specifically dealing with these items but now can see why it would be an endless job trying to classify and list all of them.
It’s funny but one always hears that art during the Nazi period was anti modernistic and other than classical styles were frowned upon but if you look at many of the designs of these items & also tinnies, they are, I guess what I would call art-deco style, how the style of the eagle & lettering & how it is incorporated into the design of the item and the setup of the pieces in general. Knowing nothing about art basically my use of the term art-deco may be incorrect but hopefully you know what I am trying to say.
I hope no one is tired of me posting some items & hope you don't mind if I post others.

Yes please,,I too enjoy seeing them especially NSKK.. some of the shield type with 2 holes in them I'm pretty sure they meant to be put on a radiator grill or motorcycle!

Don & Gaspare thanks again for your comments. I'm sure that I've shown these on other forums so sorry if most have seen these before. Here is an item that apparently is somewhat controversial. Some think they are original and some think they are not. Personally, I think these are original pieces and glad to have acquired it.
Next few are also DDAC plaques I’m sorry I didn’t take German in high school so all my translations I get from google translate.
If my translations are incorrect please let me know, thanks.
First one on left is for a DDAC gau rating(?) for Hochland. I would imagine rating in this instance might be qualifying perhaps. As I say please correct my understanding of the terms if possible.
Next one is a members plaque for the DDAC, would be attached to a car grill I believe
Third one is also for the DDAC In recognition of sporting achievements

Lastly, for now I show two Amateur Boxing medallions I have. If I remember correctly they are both made by H. Aurich Dresden. I just love the look of these and again, I don’t think these are seen that often. Don, I believe you have said you have a few of these and also the smaller pins for some events of this type? Also Don, was Aurich the only maker of the plaques? I've seen pictures of your smaller pins but I don't remember who made them either actually.
Also if I may, the DDAC physicians plaque which would be on a car grill, any idea what they go for? There is one for sale on a site, with a little enamel damage, price being asked is close to 300, not sure if that’s a good price for one with a little damage or what. I do always prefer to buy items with no damage but again, not sure of value & not seen too often I think. Whether any ideas on value or not, thank you all for taking a look at my items.

Thank you for posting these, especially the Boxing ones. I had totally forgotten that I had some of these, well, not forgotten, but for some reason I didn't think of them as non-portables, which of course they are. I have about 10 of these (I don't yet have the Essen one, you lucky thing).....
I can post mine here if you wish, but I do not want to flood the thread if you feel they they warrent a thread of their own..... What do you guys think, here or a fresh thread on Boxing plaques & badges?
In answer to you question Bill, yes, H. Aurich was the sole manufacturer of these & the pins, see below for the mark from one of mine.

Thanks again Don & Joe. Wow, 10 of them, incredible. I was happy to find these two. I always keep my eyes open and hopefully will acquire a few more. I I'd love to see the ones you have Don, and I don't care whether it's in this thread or another as long as we get to see them LOL.

Actually, I think your boxing medals deserve a thread of their own. It also makes it easier to find info on them when doing a search.

As you know, I am not a big non-portables collector, but the other day I had the chance to pick this piece up. I was tempted as I have the enamel badge for the event.... The Deutscher Versuchsanstalt für Handfeuerwaffen Berlin-Wannsee 1938.
The reverse is totally unmarked so will not take up space posting it.

And for the curious, here is the enamel badge. The more observant amongst you may recognise the design as it was the basis of the well known fake/fantasy Ostpreussen badge.
