I picked this up at a local gun show. I'm not really into hunting or forestry daggers, but I like the looks of this one. It is named on the blade and has a dedication on the scaabard. The dedication is partially worn and hard to read.

Nice dagger I also like the portapee.Don't know if this is a higher rank portapee ? Maybe Houston or BAZ canfill us in.

Hi Hans.
Nice Forestry Hirschf�nger, I should think when this was made it was a quality piece,not that it's not a quality piece now, for something around 80-100 years old it has held up pretty good just shows some honest wear and tear. Look how thick the blade is at the ricasso,you don't see many with that trait, I was wondering if it was maker marked at all, I can see the distributor, if not I would hazard a guess at WK&C, can you post a close up of the scabbard lug that can help us sometimes.I like it, personalised pieces like this are difficult to find, what is the dedication on the scabbard, does it give a date, thats something else quite rare, to find a dedication on the scabbard and the blade. Well I hope you find some more nice Hunting/Forestry hirschf�ngers, they can be very addictive.Looks to me that the knot is original to the piece, has the end of the knot got a piece of the strap material or a green springy material.

Looking at the blade etch it might be an Eickhorn.

Thanks for the comments. The portapee really is nice and there is the green springy material at the bottom. I will try Houson's download and get more pics. No other maker marks that I can see. I think there is a date on the dedication, but I can't make it out.
I'll bring it with me to the OVMS SHow.
