Seems disrespectful??
The Allied soldier that wrote that on there probably had spent months if not years being shot at by gemans and watched many of his colleagues die,I'm sure they couldnt care less about offending a german.

Nice helmet with a human touch. Ruined???? 40 years ago it wasn't worth $5.00 with or without the painted comment. Who the hell cares? In my opinion the personalization, which is well done has vastly increased the desireability of a rather common piece. cheers, Ryan

Just my opinion thats all. The helmet is o.k. I just don't care for that kind of thing. Both sides loose during war. It's not just one more German or one more American or one more Canadian. It's one more Human being or one more person. But your right in saying at the time the person who decorated this helmet probably did not care. (the opposite side are always the "bad guys")

Cool down please.

Decorated helmets used to be pretty common and so were the ones with a slot cut in the top of them for donations. I remember in the mid '60's that some EM and NCO Clubs had 'donation' helmets for the AER or Red Cross. I saw them in VFW halls too.

Maybe we should paint all helmets White (good guys) or Black (Bad guys) Big Grin This type of helmet was painted 60yrs ago I'm sure there was still a lot of anger then. Cool

BUT ANYWAY, LETS NOT WRECK THIS THREAD!!
IF ANYONE HAS MORE DECORATED HELMETS, POST THEM!! I don't have any myself. Smile

Even as a grandson of a German WWII veteran, I believe one helmet like this (graffitied) should be in every respectable collection.
