My SA-dagger is marked FERD. NEUHAUS SOLINGEN and with a upside-down horseshoe. How common is that maker ?

It's a 9 on the McSaar list, with 10 being the most rare.

Can't see why you couldn't get at least around $700.00 for itm maybe the chip in the grip lets it down a little. Is there much crossgrain left, what is the other side of the blade like?

"The money is in the blade" as the saying goes, and the blade looks like it has a lot of greying to it. With the chip in the grip $700 USD is too high IMO.
