I would hazard a guess at a police property marking ( G - Gendarmerie ) ( TH - Thuringen? )
Probably completely wrong but I am sure one of the heavy weights will correct me Smile.

You have the grips off yet?

As for rivet grip it isn't one, typical of Imperial/typeII though possibly not exactly (hard to be certain with those pics) on the type II one finds these non-slot screws whereas the type III has the slot heads, regardless this is not rivets; do more pics and have a peek under the grips... personally I have my doubts as to German marking (certainly not a standard unit marking- which by far are most often on the cross piece though on rare occasion can be found on the ricasso)

Outside chance one of the narrow blade jobs (they have wacky markings sometimes..) or one of the blankos/sneaks, what kind of release does it have? Slotted? (take it apart)

Bottom line more pics

Graf... This is not a narrow blade, it is the same size as all the other ones i own. as for taking off the grips, I have no idea how to do that, as i dont have a special tool.

Andy.. thanks for the reply.... Unfortuntely there are NO stamps on the pommel or anywhere else..

If you say so...

Narrow pattern bayonets are desirable German bayonets and they often have odd Police or political markings, which are not typical to the Wuk jobs of the same era- long shot anyway.

You dont need a special tool, every collector I know of makes their own from a screwdriver, care is needed to be sure to not mare the grips but some of the best information comes from removal of the grips (not always but as often as not)

The bayonet has some evidence of being reworked or having had something done to it after it was manufactured. And (as was mentioned) not really riveted but most probably spanner nut/bolt assemblies.

But if I had to guess what it is: It would be that the bayonet is one of the early nonmilitary contract bayonets. Not unlike a very similar (but not absolutely identical) variant example of a German Railway issue bayonet pictured in German Clamshells and other bayonets by Gary Walker and Ron Weinand. FP

Graf... Thank You for your in depth explaination and insight. I appreciate you taking the time to help inform me..

Andy.. I have looked over it many times with a loupe and still cannot find any other Stamps on the ricasso or spine, just on the one side of blade. "NED" .. on the BCN newsletter from Mick replied he thought the Screws were a WW1 Variety.

Frog... Thanks abunch for your information and input. as you may have noticed, i also posted on the MCF board under WORLD Bayonets.

Many Thanks to all that replied.. Happy Holidays.
Carey
