... the full option Panther!! I've heard release dates of before Christmas and February. As my hero Homer Simpson would say:"Aaaarrrgggghhhhh....".

Seems like I heard this too but originally nothing ever came of it. In recent years Tamiya has shifted focus to other scales and lines. Most recently its been 1/48th scale and mostly things they already had molds and information for. I like the Panther but would much rather build a Jagdpanther in 1/16th. What I think would be the best move for Tamiya in the near future would be to release something to compliment the M-26 and bring more attention to the tanks the U.S. finished the war with in 1945. I would love to build a M-24 Chaffee or even the M-18 Hellcat in 1/16th. The Panther is a very popular subject so Im sure itll do very well. Rick

I must agree that a Jagdpanther or Jagdtiger would be very cool to build or even an Elephant. But I guess Mr. Tamyia is the boss.

The pic below confirms the Panther. Note that it appears to have an all steel hull and barrel. Good news for r/c fans. Would be nice to have a conversion kit for the Jagdpanther.
I've heard a release date of January 2007.

Bernie, is there any info on the web? I've been checking the Tamiya site but nothing, no updates for some reason. Where was the picture taken, the recent Tokyo Toy Show maybe? Its either that or the Tamiya Stock Market! Rick

I found this pic on the rcuniverse.com forum. Not much info other than that. Pic was apparently taken at some Tamyia meeting/conference in Tokyo.

Great, just what I need, another long term project. Same pic is on Armorama, and, by now, probably all over the Internet. Cody

I really like my Tiger but I think I will also spring for a Panther. I mean, how can you go wrong with a Tiger AND a Panther???

The Panther should be a great project and hopefully we'll see some improvements in the general operation like the Pershing kit. Bernie there were Panthers at Kursk, early versions I think. No telling what version Tamiya's is or will be. If I had to bet, it'll be based on molds they already have just up-scaled. I bet its a 'G' version. Cody I'm so slow that if I buy a new kit thats just come out, when I'm ready for paint, I have to check the aftermarket for upgrades first! Rick

I believe that it will be a "G". Cuts down on the battle scenarios that the "G" took part in as I believe they came out in the spring of 44.

Rick, That's not necessarily a bad thing, as open-horn tracks for the 1/16 Tiger I have now been released. Accurate links have been the hang-up on my own big cat. Cheers, Cody

You know I have to say that I just dont understand some folks in our various hobbies. Tamiya, at great expense and investment, bring to market what is very likely one of their best R/C efforts to date and some of the holier than thou builders of the chosen scales (individuals that have never built anything R/C in their lives) are already insulting the work (and the fact that its radio controlled) as being too toy like. Its too toy-ish with the R/C, blah, blah, blah...... I think these type of folks are good candidates for glass bellybuttons!
