Got a new k98 bayonet for Christmas, maybe someone can give me some info on it? The blade is marked E.U F. Horster, 6863n w/ Wiemar Waffenamps, WaA253. The scabbard is marked S/155K., But there are no s/n's on it appears to never have had any. Cond of both is very good +++ (The cond. of both seems to match nicely as a set. also came with frog, cant see any markings on it. Any ideas here??? Denny

Hello nice bayonet, both parts produced by Hoerster,Solingen, blade should be dated on spine of blade near crossguard with last two digits of year 37!, scabbard is from 1934 production, it could be a "waffenmeister" replacement, spare scabbard or the old serial was removed? Have You any photos? Should be origin with wood grips. best regards,Andy

Very nice bayonet and it looks like the bard never had a serial..cant see any grindingmarks. Maybe like Andy said: A spare bard or arsenal rework.
Another tip :if you try to take out the bard springs maybe there are some stampings on them.

I agree the bards an spare and you see these occasionally, though usually serialed to the new bayonet (first time I saw one I had a brainfart & thought something hinky was afoot... saw a 1940 or 41 bayonet with an "matching" S coded bard, G date I believe?) That its not serialed makes it prime collectable imo, just like armorer spare bolts are desired in Gew98/98k collecting this is no different- next best thing to matching!
