I know there are an awful lot of collectors (me included) that have some fantastic stuff to share but are worried about them being posted publicly.
Main reasons for this is that as soon as they are available for everyone to see on the net they can be copied by fakers etc. I think this would help show a few of the real tropies that people are hiding away.
What about having an area that only genuine members can view that you need say 500 or 1000 posts to be able to see?.
Just a thought

When I first came here I posted a few of my items. One being a really rare SS dogtag. A year later a guy that went to East Europe comes back and tells me he has a fabulous tag for my collection... It was a poor copy of the tag I showed,,even down to the exact soldiers roll number on it!
anyway, I'd love to show more, but not happening. A good idea about member posts,,,but they would need to install the 'anti copy' feature also in the very least...

I know what you mean, I posted some one off dagger bits up on forums that have been turned into bad copies and sold.
Its bad when you cant post the stuff or even put pics into the books because of this.

Yes, that is certainly a danger, but that can also happen if they buy the item as well.
If there is money to be made, fakers and forgers will find a way to cash in.
The trick is to find the proper balance. Being too secretive is anathema to maintaining a public forum in which the goal is to inform others of your shared hobby.

I would love to see the rare items, as an avid ww2 buff. But the relative newbies like myself won't have 500 or 1000 posts for a long time.
