Also how can you tell the dfference between a m35 and m40 helmet?They both have the rolled edge.

I assume you are new to this? The difference is that an M35 has a seperate piece inserted into the hole made for the air vent. The M40 has this simply stamped into the shell during manufacture. Simply look at the interior where the vent is and you can tell .....

Yes I am new I guess I dont collect helmets and never knew that, thanks for the info.The orange patches look original period done on this helmet from the pics,will post some better pics of this helmet when I get it.Does anyone have a helmet book or period photo of these markings being used or where I can find some good info about helmet markings?

The photos are pretty poor there is not a lot you can say about the overall helmet .I have never seen markings like that before either on the net or in any book .Rob

Thanks guys I appreciate it.Here are some more pics,helmet has a sand type non refective finish.Any help on markings would be appreciated,its a m40,air holes are stamped/molded in helmet,liner is rough but sure looks original./
