Great looking helmet. Police combat helmets are one of my favorites. The police decal looks to be a standard one. I would say the gold tone is from age. Any photos of the liner?

I also had one a while back. I believe the gold color that you see was the aging of the clear laquer coating that was applied to the decal after it was applied to the helmet. Not positive on this but my decals had a very thin border of darkening around the edges of the decal.

Thanks for the liner photo Rick. Nice honest age. I agree with Die Ritter on the laquer. You can see where it overlaps the border of the decal by about 1mm. By the way what is the maker?

Hi Raymond. The maker is SE size 66. I think it must be an earlier made M40 because of the smooth paint..........Best, RICK

Rick, forgot to add that this one is really nice, certainly better shape than the one that I had. The neat thing about these is the possibility that it might have been Waffen SS as they did have a police division that I believe used these instead of the standard helmet although you would never know unless it was named and traced back to the soldier it was issued to. Congrats, nice one!
