A nice 'Q' in my opinion Gunther!

I realize this helmet could cause a stir in that it is not a 'CA Pocher' decal on a Q M.35 blackie...I did think it looked good though...only my 2 cents. Anyone else have an opinion?

It's not a "blackie"...just very dark feldgrau paint, IMO. It is a factory Q helmet with a strange decal arrangement...a factory-applied Q-style runes decal and a Pocher party decal. Never seen that before on an M35. I would like to see this one in hand.

NOTE: Just making an amended comment here...judging by the other helmet Gunther has presented I believe this helmet may well be a modern copy...or at the very least had a bogus party decal applied to a Q helmet that had it's original party shield removed as per the 1940 order. Scary!

Cheers,

Darryl,

Could this be the new fake Q we have heard about? The decal lacks a characteristic we usually attribute to the Pocher shield but which is also witnessed on early Q's.

Cody,

Agreed...it certainly could be. As I mentioned, I would like to see this one in hand.

Darryl,

I noticed Manion's pulled the other helmet.

Who is producing these fakes?

A few of us think we know who may be making these forgeries but are really unable to say on the forums since there is no hard proof. Interesting to hear that the helmet has no been pulled from the auction site.

I would really like to see that one in my hands...

I agree with you Darryl and Cody.

I see one fault in the runes that makes me think it's not right. besides that it's on a helmet with a suspcious Party shield.

This one just sold at Manion's online auction for $6790.00 plus Manion's buyer's premium of 15% or $1,018.50 for a total of $7808.50. Manion's also collects a 15% seller's fee. I feel sorry for the buyer....

I learned a few things from this thread.....

All the best......
