Gents: I acquired this camo trans from a 17th AB vet some twenty years ago. I've always been puzzled by the blue horizontal rectangular bar painted directly beneath the rear rivet. Any answers? Mark Warren

Strange marking. Perhaps to identify an officer or NCO as the troops advanced?

Hi Mark
Very cool helmet.
I have never seen anything in writing about this Most likely some "unit level" marking to identify a rank or specialized responsibilty.
