Hello, I have this boot knife marked PUMA I will try to post a picture of the marking. The marking is unusual. Has anyone seen this before? Is it a legit marking?

If you look at the knife you will also see the blade is a bit different then the usual Puma boot knife. It is a well made knife and the handle and tang are just like the WWI Pumas.

Hello Mikebike.
I have a like yours in my kampfmesser collection.

Its marked with : Fabrik PUMA Markt
PUMA
SOLINGEN

Orginal sheat and red composite bakelit grip.

Do you s collect German Kampfmesser ?

I collect German knifes and here are some from my collection with some SS Vt dogtags and badges .Etc.

The knife to the left is very rare. Tools inside the grip. This one is made by PUMA.
Next are RbN numbered on the blade as well. ( rare).
Next is ASW 42 and CLC and Puma with bakelit grip. Puma Solingen. ( like yours Mikebiker )

Iron cross L 54 marked back and the other Eagle ( biggest pin left of the Puma is a SS Eagle )

LH600, Is the blade marking on your Puma identical to the one I posted at the top of the page? It looks like the same knife.

Hi Mikebiker,

This knife is 100% original WW2.
This knife and the marking is described in the referencebook "Deutsche Kampfmesser" from Eugen von Halasz, page 203.(Knife number 170)
I can send you a scan of this, but it's in German.

Thanks for the answer. I have inquired elsewhere and have not had a definitive answer. I have turned up several similar knives. I had always thought the knife was too well made to be anything but correct.

I could only see Xs for a while but now I see the pictures. Yes it is the same mark. On mine the F in FABRIK is missing. I looks like the die must have broken. From what I have found by researching this knife is that it is not rare but much less encountered then the standard variation from WWI.
