I am asked all the time what a standard numbered Gold Party Badge is worth. The sad fact is, I haven't bought one in years, although I try to keep up on the rapid changes in published prices.
It would be helpful to know from those with deeper pockets what they have/would pay for individual large Gold Party Badges, unattributed, medium number, plain pin.
Opinions on price for any other combination of factors (small badge, military pin, AH award version, matched set, etc.) is also appreciated.
My own thought - I've seen 3 dealers' GPBs today all in the $2500 range for a "plain Jane" large GPB.
Thanks for any and all opinions. And by the way, I don't have one to sell - just curious.
Cheers,

Sorry, its in the bank. As I remember it, it is just numbered only and has the regular pin. He had three different badges and I have the invoice of his order of two for extras to have for other uniforms and this is one of them. A beauty with wonderful fire gold finish. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria

Wasn't Lohse the one who said that no Jew should receive "more food than needed to sustain life." there's a quote for a rope ..did the Russians end up with him or the Trials ? I bet Simon's Museum would love to have that badge.

Here's the back ...it's Serial # 36,000 which belonged to Dr Ernst Boepple ,this badge was easy to research because of his position in the General Gov and from the Nuremberg Trials. He was handed over to Poland after the War and hung. http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionar...rnst%20Boepple

No Mike, Lohse was one of the few top ones that survived the war and was left free. Evidently he had helped some of the Jews in the end and stood in the way of deportation in some cases as I remember. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria

I just did a search and found this -- -On November 10, 1941, Higher SS and police leader, Friedrich Jeckeln, received orders to liquidate the Jewish population of Riga. He was informed by his superior, Hinrich Lohse, that it was "the Fuehrer's wish." -On October 25, 1941 a directive addressed to Hinrich Lohse regarding the use of special "gassing vans," came by way of German judge, Dr. Erhard Wetzel. Lohse himself escaped prosecution by the Allies after the second world war, a fact which is suspicious in itself. He was prosecuted by the German government decades later for "participating in an undemocratic regime". http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:u2hgvI70gXcJ:www.c...&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=20So you are right ..he got away , somehow ..if you punch up that link , there's quite a bit re him and ..I can't see how he ended up a free man. That makes your GPB all the more interesting

Nice badge Mike.
Now that we're rolling, any opinion of what an "AH" honor version fetches?
Cheers,

The AH Badges are really up there. Look at the set Craig has on his Site. I myself like the numbered Badges because in a lot of cases you can put a name to it.

Mike, I saw the thread and found it very interesting. Anything new that can be discovered on original badges will help keep the fakes at bay.

Hi Erich ..I remember you posted on that thread ..I thought it would have been great if more GPB owners had chimed in but , it was worth a try. We could probably establish exactly how many Dies were used by both Companies just from John Pepera's collection alone. I'd love to see him do a book on his collection ...that would define GPB's and the variations for generations of collectors.

Mike, I agree, John is the man. I hope he would consider doing a book as well.
