This appears to be a reissued M18. The curious feature of the mirror-image runes and the decals being in reverse of the normal locations makes this a tough call. I am not the one to make a firm judgement here, and I am skeptical to a degree. Please get some close ups of the decals and the interior of the helmet. This one appears to have the decals mounted over a prior set of decals. That is worth examining further as well.

I wish I could help more, but I know little about helmets. Rev. Mike is right. The decals appear to be "newer" than the rest of the helmet, especially the party one, and seem to have been applied after the helmet was worn for some time. That does not necessarily mean they are fake or weren't period applied, even if over previous decals.

Actually, I should not have called it an M18, since that has to do with the original lining system. This is of Austrian origin and may very well be a quite rare item. Unfortunately, this forum is realitively dormant. Most of our old SS experts have migrated to other venues such as German Helmet Walhalla. I would check and post on multiple websites for more information.
It would be interesting to know any background you have on this helmet.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi you will definately need better pics than these unless the helmet is being offerred at a "give away" price...plus side...I like the colour of the helmet and also like the look of the sigrunen decal from a distance...in my opinion the helmet has a decent chance of being authentic and if so.as already pointed out it is a rare bird in above average condition....if you would like email me the pics that you have and make them as large and as clear as possible and I will forward to Darryl Pajot for an opinion...and based on what he says you can be very comfortable...none better...cheers and regards, Ryan email me at [email protected]

There are some things in this sale that look like fake/repros for sure, of course that doesn't mean there's not some good stuff mixed in as well.
