Here is a sweet SA, straight the late vet's daughter. I thought this was a rare maker, an 8 on the McSaar scale. Very dark brown scabbard, though the age doesn't help it either. Nice grip. original hanger.

Congrats John, great dagger. Grip looks to be cherry wood.

Very nice, that grip is in fantastic condition and just check out the grip to crossguard fittings! You gotta be happy with that... well done.

Thanks guys, this one is a definite keeper! The blade is much nicer than I can ever seem to show with pictues. It seems photos, and the lighting at militaria shows, seems to highlight and magnify every little defect.

Very very nice. It's good to know that one went to someone who will appreciate it.

I was one of those interested in that one. Did the seller request an essay of you as well? Really weird Roll Eyes . If so, what were the magic words?

Yes, it was rather strange, and the dagger wasn't "cheap"....

Here's what I sent:

My grandfather fought in WWII, and left me his WWII stuff. I have always loved history, and have collected WWII items for over 25 years. I have a couple of display cases in my office, and I think patients would appreciate a little history lesson.

So, I don't know, I pretty much figured I wouldn't get it....but was pleasantly surprised.

It's amazing you have the time to beat the bushes looking for daggers when your work keeps you busy beating the beavers. Mike
