Looks like a once broken away and newly fixed swaz (dagger original) to me!!!!!
Can you show us the reverse of this certain part?
Personally the hangers do look spurious to me. Cogwheel opening too wide, backing different to those originals I know and slides slightly different to those originals I know. Front brocade material could be ok, perhaps of original surplus brocade material sold by a major dealer?

I believe Wotan is right, a period dagger that has at one point been denazified and repaired. Nice looking dagger otherwise. I can't say about the hangers. How's the pricetag?

Excellent eye. What would be the value of this dagger from a private purchase?

There are some other things too. The font on the numbers is quite different on the dagger compared to the scabbard. Also some of the cogs on the wheel of the hangers look distorted. Different colored slides are also a bit disturbing-and the type of upper hanger fitting is not typical for TENO.

Houston, I do own and have seen a lot of doubtless original/from-the-period TN leader daggers, mostly with stamped numbers. Interestingly, these I have seen (with stamped numbers) ALWAYS had different fonts used on the scabbard versus used on the blade. I often did wonder myself about it. Personally I have no proof for my theses but I think the numbers did wear much faster on the hard steel of the blade contrary to the relatively "soft" iron of the scabbard mouth. So different sets (i cannot explain why also with different fonts but perhaps the more plain look was easier to cut out of the special hardened steel?) were made. Otherwise I would have no explanation but the differing is a fact. But I think vesuvios dagger is totally original aside from the once broken swaz. The hangers I think is a postwar copy out of the reasons I and Houston did state. Personally i would not want a dagger with a once broken swaz, how good it is restaurated. Quality and condition (beside historic value and rareness) are the cornerpoints in our field of collection.I would guess 1000-1500 USD at its absolute highest. vesuvio, I could see the certain flaw only becaus of your wonderful sharp and extremely detailed pics. Here we see how valuable such carefully made pics are in our hobby and in our forum!

It is not clear exactly how the broken swaz was reattached but since the metal is aluminum I would assume the repair was carried out using epoxy. In this case the fix is weak and will not last.
