I got these SS-belts from a collectorfriend. The three belts, one with the alu-buckle, are all from the same maker and marked with L SS AH. The other belt with the iron buckle is marked 42/40. For me, the items are okay, but I would like to know your opinion too.

Regards

IMO,
I don't like "LSSAH" markings, the markings on the other belts/ belt loops seams OK.

I do not like the LAH marking neither. Looks like a factory marking (aka Fisher's) but there was no such marking originating from the factory. Such marking could be added by the depot of the receiver but there was rubber stamps.
What is the other one (the RZM/SS one)?

Please excuse my late response, I had a lot to do.

I agree with Jean-Pierre, that markings like the LSSAH are not factory-made, but could be later added by the depot. I don't agree, that these markings were always only rubber-stamps. I would say, this is a normal Wehrmacht belt with a depot mark of the LSSAH. Here is a picture of one of the other belts, wich looks a little bit more worn.

I will post a picture of the RZM-SS later these days.

Regards

I still do not agree. ANY original SS leather belt I was able to see which was produced in 1937 to be delivered to the SS was RZM/SS marked, been for the LAH or else. Additionnal stamp from receiving depot (like LAH, VA.SS., etc ...) could still be debated if they were or not rubber stamps, but supplies to the SS were strictly enforced by RZM/SS contacts.

Yes, Jean Pierre, all leather belts made for the SS were stamped with the RZM/SS.

But during the war, the SS used a lot of normal Wehrmacht-Equipment. I presume, that these belts were made for the Wehrmacht in 1937, and later given to the LAH, wich used them after 1939, when the Waffen-SS expanded.

Indeed widely starting in 1943. But all leather goods were used the way they were issued to the various german armed forces without any additionnal marking / overstamping before been re-issued to the SS. Then, even between 1937 and 1939, leather goods from Fisher ending to the LAH (since white painted they couldn't go anywhere else) bore just a set of SS runes within a circle. Most likely those white finished leather production originated for municipal police use but ended to the LAH to fill an order. I believe there was no need to require a RZM/SS contract for such small quantity. Anyway there is not a single example (confirmed originaI) from Fisher which bears anything else.
Instead, a lot of municipal police left overs from Fisher were overstamped with a set of SS runes after some books started to show pictures of such items in the late 80's. In early 2000's, 100% full reproductions were even produced with a fake Fisher marking and fake SS runes set.
Anyway, those sets are yours. If you believe their LAH marking is original and are happy with them, I am perfectly fine with that. But I will never buy them myself.

For the other set (42/40) the markings seems very large. I do not have any records of #42 (original or fake).

Can you show the buckles with their marking?

yes, the steel buckle is sold now. I can not take a picture of the markings, but I'm sure, it was a good one.

The 822/38 is without a doubt original. The 155/40 looks ok as well. But would it be possible to see the marking?

Best

JP
