Hello to all, I recently aquired this sword and thought to share this one, I'm not really a sword collector so I will be selling it soon, just wanted to show pics for any info or comments from members, FP gave me some info of "not being a common etch", what would this rate for condition, the blade etch is VERY detailed and clean, but the Handle/grip/Lion Head conditon? any comment are welcome. Thanks In advance, Eric

Sweet!! Dig that eagle. Imperial swords are definetly higher quality than most Nazi swords.

Thanks Guys it looks even better in hand, it has so much detail everytime I look at it I see more things in the etch. I have about 44 more pics. I would like to keep it but I just bought 3 k98s, My grandfather left me a lion head and panther head? in perfect condition that I will never sell, so I'm good on having a example of TR swords. Thanks for any help, Eric

AJ, I bought 3 k98 rifles, I can see how you read my post, I should have been more specific, I collect k98 bayos mostly and after playing with the sword, I have decided to keep it for now. I would like to start to learn more about this sword and the other 2 lion/panther head swords I have so, what would be everyones opinion on the best reference book to have for German swords. I think swords are under valued in my opinion, but I guess its whats in demand, you can buy a k98 rifle matching in good condition for about the same as a good dagger and now bayonet are on the rise. Its just funny how things are valued for the money. Thanks Eric

Swords of Germany 1900-1945 by John R Angolia
ISBN 0-912138-40-8 would be my choice if you want a good comprehensive book bit like
Lubbes Deutsche Seitengewehre und Bajonette 1740-1945 which you probably already have as a bayonet reference if not you should get that too

There are some etches in these books but I think the best source for that info is period catalogs and reprints thereof. The WKC & Eickhorn catalog reprints are the most readily available. Wittman & Johnson web sites would be a good place to look.

That etch is not among the twenty odd in my Weyersberg Kirschbaum and Cie catalog but thats not surprising as your sword is by Weyersberg &Co which is Paul Weyersberg.Anybody got one of his catalogs? Its a superb blade very envious

Well I have got the books and been researching this sword for info and have come up with NO info on etch pattern, so thought to see if anyone lately has any reference books of this sword with etching. I'm planning on selling and would like to have a little more info than I have. Thanks for any help!
