Here is yet another modern example with some modifications. What is being done here (IMHO) is that parts from the new "50th" anniversary navy dagger from WKC are being used with minor modifications. Notice the new damascus blade (which WKC offers) with "STAMPED" trademark. The springy wire wrap, the brand new "short arm" crossguard and pommel and brand new scabbard. Ivory grip is an addition instead of the usual white plastic offering.

Here is another dagger based on the new production pattern. This one has the modern plastic grip, and "blitz" scabbard offered by WKC as well. This scabbard may be an original mated to the dagger. Of course, the etched back to back squirrels of Carl Eickhorn is a modern trademark and did not exist during Imperial times.
I would like to add that I have seen in Germany two "modern" navy blades that appear to have new Carl Eickhorn Stamped trademarks--both the Imperial and the 36-41. I am not totally sure until I see other examples, but they give me that tell-tale feeling of cognitive dissonance. Keep an eye peeled!

What sort of price are they asking for these?

Looks like WKC is causing a lot of trouble for collectors. All this mixing of parts is going to cost several people a lot of money. I hope they continue with the tell tale TM's but that WKC is a very bad one. Put that on a Third Reich original dagger and it would fool a lot of collectors. Ivory grips too--they look too new but I wonder how they made the age type cracks.

Hi, these fakes appear since approx. one or two years. We have seen them much more worse, but the fakers are making progress. Sooner or later the crossguard will have the correct arms and the whole thing will be artificially aged. This can ruin the hobby for beginners and probably as well as for normal collectors. Especially when you look at the prices for genuine damascus blades. Sad. Best; Dutch

You will see that a couple of different crossguards are being produced as well as scabbards. Not all of this is WKC production. They have suppliers that are selling components, just like in the old days. The WKC damascus blades have already been through a couple of generations. The drop forge work on the first few batches was terrible, steel was pushed up at the ends of the fullers. You will also find these daggers are internally numbered. Artifically aging is a real science right now. If you know anything about antique guns or bowie knives these guys know what they are doing. I recently saw an artifically aged Kentucky rifle fool a world class collector on first external inspection. The point is not to scare everyone off of these daggers. Right now as the process is starting is the time to learn what is going on. The new collector 20 years from now will not have it so easy.
