It is my opinion that this medals and badges forum needs a shot of adrenalin! There has been a marked lack of interest, enthusiasm and involvement of late.
Fritziii asked for ideas. Where are they. I do not know what else to do! Roll Eyes

I'd like to hear from the members that don't post very often, what their thoughts are, etc. ,, why they don't, or won't post,,,,. Roll Eyes

Fritziii can only do so much, it's up to the members to keep the forum interesting.

Fritziii is doing an outstanding job! I appreciate the civility and decorum represented here.
That in my opinion is a big plus to this forum, and should be a big draw!

Come on good people, input, please!

I would post more and buy more medals but I am afraid of them, there such a fake fill market you have to research a piece for awhile before you do any buying, just to damn hard to learn the subtile differents between real and fakes I think thats what slow down this area. Confused This area and cloth is a touchy market IMO, the others are alot easier to learn and gain the knowledge needed to buy, buy, buy!!!

Adam when I started a few years ago, I learned not to buy before getting some opinions from people I trusted on line and the with the forum, but at times you can get mixed opinions, so you have to go with your gut, do your research and full speed ahead. Wink

I cut off the end of this thread as it seems that a fight from another Forum was being tranfered here.

Declining interest....naw!!!

Simple division Big Grin

There are just so many collectors and a bunch of 'Forums' attempting to keep a good base.

The problem is that some have been formed out of 'like minded'collectors which only creates a Good 'ol Boy's Club and nothing is accomplished if everyone is speaking the same 'language'!

We need a venue that combines all.....

Have a gander at the names in these several Forums...same guys, same pics, same opinions but unfortunately NO discussion!!

Cheers,
Dave

Moderation isn't a problem, Fritzi is doing an excellent job..Problem is we don't have enough resident members that make medals/badges their specialty and will offer their opinion/findings with conviction...
Yes, we see the same members, these here and a few more that have been contributing and I like to thank them for staying here thru the high times and low..

I do see a few new members posting also, they are using logical deductions and even backing up their findings with science, welcome, great to see your posts..

**What will help?**..don't know exactly. Being able to post larger photos is one thing that will!. 75 kb just doesn't cut it when we're taking about very small details..

Hello,
Thanks for the support! I thought of an idea and pulled a past topic I started up to the top about knights cross' of the kvk. This is what I'm thinking, lets talk about a medal or badge extensivly, this one in particular is the kvk. Read the post and I think you'll see where I'm going, and lets say in a few weeks lets pick another could be any badge or medal and look at that one in depth. I think we will all benifit from something like this not only getting a chance to see some nice medals and badges but we will gain something in iformation and knowledge about the particular topic that will help some from getting burned. What do you guys think? Remmber this is our forum and we can make it one of the best in the hobby, I'm up for doing what it takes to make it a forum full of info and comradery for all that want to read and learn.

Fritziii

Joe,
I know the feeling but I think we are just in a lul. I'm going to borrow some medals from a friend of mine and post them here for discussion, I think if we can get a few good topics going we can get things back to normal.

Sorry for the late arrival.

I too hope that we are just in a lul, but it seems to have been lasting quite a while now. I don't know what to suggest, I tried a thread to discover the different makers of a particular badge that had limited success.

Fresh out of ideas.

Cheers
Don

Essox / Erik, I for one, am here almost every day! I will admit I miss a few, I hate to see any ones post go unanswered, some days time gets away from me as I am sure it does with everyone. I did not feel there were that many posts with O replys.

I do not know what else to do or try. Controversial subjects draw attention while most other subjects are left to suck air after a few obligatory replies!

This is no lul. It is plain and simply lack of members and lack of participation!

I would suggest the senior members consider sharing their knowledge of specific badges or a series of badges. Tell everyone what you know and also point out the unknown areas or unproven areas. Ask questions.

Mr. Hohaus, a resonable suggestion. I may dig out something and give it what for. Where we have attempted to pursue specific topics we have met with limited sucess. While disheartning I do not feel any of us are prepared to throw in the towel just yet. Fritziii has also been trying to get some topics going along those lines.
For myself I know little about any one subject and I type with the speed of a snail traversing a mud puddle. Roll Eyes

Joe,

First, call me Dave. Also,I am a two finger typer too.

Feel free to start a topic or two. Or twelve Big Grin

Controversy comes with all the stuff we collect in this hobby and discussions do not always go the way the poster intended.

That said, we will NOT put up with personal attacks, or the posts that say "yours is a fake but I cannot tell you why". Moderators have my encouragement to remove these.

I quite like the idea of going down the line of trying to document all the makers of particular enamel badges. I started a thread with the Kleingrtner pin with limited success & I see that Tkissinger has started one with the Colonial pins. Perhaps this will be a way of bringing people in & perhaps having something different to offer from the other fora.

Anyone else have enamel badges with different makers that we can start threads on? They have a Party pin one over on WAF so there isn't a point in doing that one. But perhaps the HJ standard diamond pin, or the HJ traditions pin (the first type members pin)? There are so many out there I'm sure we could get some threads going....

Cheers

Jamie started the above post on RLB pins. We could continue it's progress.

I may be somewhat hampered for awhile in posting images. My scanner is acting strangely. This leaves me with the camera which does not do good close ups. Eek

Guys,

I have been a bit quiet because of lack of replies to my posts. But how to correct that I have no idea. I try to reply to others, if I feel I have something worth adding.

Hinrik, I am sorry it took me awhile to reply to your U-Boat Spy EKI & EKII thread. The subject matter is interesting and I look forward to viewing images of the medals and reading more.

We all get limited responses at times. I have no answer for it either.
