Hello all,
I tried posting these items in the miscellaneous militaria forum but got no answers so I hope you don't mind that I posted them here also...even though they are not German.
I have a few items that I wonder if someone can identify for me. First is what looks to me to be a tinnie of some sort, definately not German, perhaps italian? Also any ideas what it is for? Around the rim are representations of athletes(?), sword in middle of tinnie and the lettering AXIX at bottom of sword hilt. Looks like their is some script writing on each side of sword but I can't make it out. Reverse has what looks like the words Stab. Artistic and I assume a maker name of Fiorentini. Italian tinnie perhaps? Second item is a medal with wording of Divisione Fanteria Pistoia. For some reason I thought this was perhaps a mexican medal for pistol shooting but a quick search on web gives me the idea that it is some sort of italian medal. Again any info regarding it is appreciated. I have attached pictures of said items for view. Again thank you for any help

Bill, that's what we're here for. Smile
Italian yes.

As to the first your guess on sports related is mine also. Is that a small Facses at the base of the hilt?

The medal - Pistoia is a city and province in the Tuscany region of Italy. Fanteria = Infantry.

Hope others can add to the info.

Hello,
Joe I thank you for your help and info... again. This forum is quite lucky to have a moderator who is as active and helpful as you are, so again my thanks to you. I'll just thank the others who consistently reply to queries asked in this forum and say "it is appreciated". Now back to these items. Yes there is a fasces at the base of the sword hilt. Also regarding the lettering AXIX, I looked up roman numerals but didn't see anything for the letter A so any idea on what number A stands for? The italian pistol medal any idea on era? I look forward to hearing from any other members who also might have info about these items. I've had them sitting around for a good while and figured I might as well inquire about them. Again Joe I thank you for your help and welcome any other comments or info.

Bill, not sure it is a date. I keep finding AXIX for Axis in some articles. ?
AXIX also has to do with Italian bicycles. ?

I'll keep looking as I can. I tried a calendar date but came up empty.

Hello,
Joe that is interesting about the AXIX. I know nothing about Italian items at all. I also tried a calender date but like you came up with nothing. In any case I thank you for your help.
Bill
