Hallo Florian,

gefallen mir gut, aber ist nicht mein Gebiet.

Hier wartet man in letzter Zeit vergeblich auf Feedback. Dieses Forum stirbt langsam.

Cheers

I'm not sure either, and a bit suspicious. The collar tabs are not the common style for this rank, and the twisted colored shoulderboards been faked more and more. Without better pictures and a hand inspection, it's im my opinion hard to judge wrong or right.

Hello laurens,
from what exactly would you need better pictures? In my opinion the full tunic is ok, but I am not an expert in SA tunics.
Attached some more pictures of the full tunic. a pic where I put the tunic on the scanner for a collar tab scan is also attached.

best regards and thanks for your post

Hello Florian,

The collartab-color from the scanner seems to be the typical OSAF color (crimson).

Well I like to see some more pictures of the complete set, and like to know if there're any RZM-labels. Is it named? Sleeve rings?

I don't see any obvious red flags.

last shot: same tab as above

Hello laurens,
thanks for your comment. To your questions:

Unfortunately it is not named. A RZM label is inside of the tunic ("Handwerksarbeit") and the two small silver hooks (in German "Koppelhaken") on the back are RZM marked. Sleeve ring as you can see one for beeing SA member since 01.01.1930.
And of cause many loops for awards...

regards
Florian

Hi Florian,

The details on the tabs showed some natural wear, and although that the shape of the oakleaves are odd, must I admit that I can't see much wrong about it. Do you have some better shots of the kepi?

I think this tunic is interesting enough, and don't understand the lack of more replies! I'm sure that the experts still lurking arround.

EXCEPT FOR A FEW VERY EARLY TUNICS, I DO NOT CARE FOR OFFICER GRADE TUNICS WITH BELT RAMPS.
THIS FEATURE IS ASSOCIATED WITH OTHER RANKS TUNICS. THE COLLAR TABS APPREAR TO BE OK. THE SHOULDER STRAP, AS LAURENS MENTIONED, HAS BEEN WELL FAKED. MY THOUGHTS FOR WHAT THEY ARE WORTH

Hello,
thank you Bob and again laurens for your comments. Attached some more pictures made with my laica and for laurens some of the cap.
After that pictures Bob, would you stay away from that tunic or would you need an "hand inspection" ?
best regards and thanks
Florian

The kepi doesn't match with rank of Gruppenführer, as it has the Tresse for the ranks Ober-and Brigadeführer. The Tresse for these ranks must be 1,5 cm.

The problem is always, that period pictures proove exceptions. I know a picture of Heinrich Böhmcker (Than Gruppenführer) wearing a cap with Tresse below his rank.

Another exception is the collar-piping. When the SA introduced the second shoulderboard, the collar-piping was abolished. Period pictures many times prooves wrong.

Bob makes a good point about the belthooks. I checked my Standartenführer tunic, and it's without.

The Tresse is attached sloppy, but that prooves nothing again.

I think what's left is your own feeling.

Good luck!

The attached person is a SA-Gruf. (RK recipient). It´s not the same design of the tresse but in size matching with mine?!
What do you mean with sloppy?
Can YOU post a correct kepi from your collection?
Can ANYONE post here an 100 % original Gruf. tunic? Did sb. seen another WITH belthooks?
Best regards
Koj

FLORIAN-
MY GUT FEELING IS THIS IS AN ASSEMBLED UNIFORM. THE KEPI IS NOT ONE I WOULD WANT IN MY COLLECTION. NOTE, ALL OF THESE OBSERVATIONS ARE MADE FROM IMAGES WITHOUT A HANDS ON. SEVERAL OF THESE HIGH RANKING KEPIS WITH HAND EMBROIDERED NATIONAL EMBLEM HAVE TURNED UP IN EUROPE IN THE PAST YEAR. SINCE I HAVE ONLY SEEN TWO IN MY COLLECTING CAREER, IT MAKES ME QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF THE PIECE.
IN CONCLUSION, THE BELT RAMPS, THE NON-MATCHING POSITION TRESSE, THE SHOULDER BOARD & THE LACK OF ANY TAILORING MARKS FOR A MAN OF THIS STATURE IN MY MIND REQUIRE TO MANY EXCUSES OR EXPLANATIONS. A HANDS ON EXAMINATION COULD CHANGE MY MIND. HOWEVER, AT THIS POINT AND TIME, I WOULD PASS ON THIS GROUPING.
BOB
