What makes you like a luft more than a army!

I know many of you collect both or just one!

Is it just the style of eagles?

In the great luft army collecting war I ask
your thoughts!

Well I like the armys better than the Lufts. To me the crossguards and pommels look much better on a army.On a luft they look to big and out of place.Just my thoughts I am sure this will be a great topic.

Same here... prefer the Army. Nice clean lines. Cool eagle and pommel. Cool

I think luft are much nicer design IMO, just because the scabbard has that nicer oakleave design bands and also the design on the lower scabbard, I also think the pommel and guard is a much nicer and more eligant design then heers daggers and I then the heers are to simple looking to me and seem rather cheaply build but that is only my opinion the scabbards are so simple. I sold all my army's that how much I like them. Big Grin Oh and even the hanger design is awesome on lufts nice square buckles with nice oakleave design on them nicer looking then heer hangers IMO also. Smile

I agree about the army dagger having a clean design without too much adornment. The 2nd Luft isn't bad, but I like the "less is more" simplicity of the Army.

However, both designs are, IMHO, head and shoulders above the 1st Luft design. The hanger is clunky (I'm no fan of the chained SS/NSKK either), the scabbard and grip are easily damaged, the crossguards are garish and the pommel is too large. But, again, that's just my opinion.

For me it has to do with the historical events -although I am a big fan of reading about the ground war I have a special place for the struggle for the air espically in the west (ETO and MTO)

So I had a choice to make when it came to starting this hobby. This is not to say I will not buy Heer or SS items but they are not currently my focus.

John

Partial to the Heers myself. But just by a hair! I guess the amount of hand work on alot of the pieces and the amazing amount of variations in fitting types keeps me interested! Along with thier availability and affordability(comparitivly)! Dont get me wrong I really love em'all but if I had to cloose.... Wink Kevin.

I like them both as well, but I will say that I like the first model Luft. more than the second. Somthing about all of that dark blue leather offset with silver fittings and two large obvious golden swaz's, it looks like a mini-sword. Very cool.
