This is a early waffen ss nco cap made by clemens wagner. (stamped on the inside of the sweat band). I`ve been collecting visors for some time now, and I feel good about the cap.
But it`s always nice to get a second oppinion.
The cap band is 37mm wide, a little less than normal.. The eagle is marked rzm and 39 35.
It`s a early skull with some silver finish left.
Any comments on the insignia or the cap itself?

For those of you that are visiting my home page, some new caps have been added. A totally new site is under construction. Please be patient. ww2visorcaps.com

What`s happened with this forum?
It used to be fun and educating to visit.
Is it me or don`t people care any more.
Here I display a original waffen ss cap
and there is no comments what so ever?
Where have all the "know betters" gone..

kim,

Yes, this forum is a mere shadow of its glorious former self. I'm afraid that all the good guys who knew SS uniforms, caps and cloth have been driven off by all the "think they know betters".

Sad, really.

Cheers,

Hi Kim,
Im afraid at the moment collectors have been a wee bit intimidated by snipers who are just content in causing aggro' I have personaly added some great items of early SS to my collection but unfortunately wouldnt want to share this on a forum at the moment. There seems to be a lot of jealousy in this hobby and many 'armchair' collectors are posting their views particularly from other sites who relish in the art of pi taking ! They are lurking this very minuet Im sure, waiting to pounce !!!!
I like your cap,but eh what the f do I know,,, keep smiling through,Im sure the site will be back to the great and infomative one it once was,,,, Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

Kim,

I like your cap too - something I would like to add to my collection some day as well. It is a shame about the lack of participation, but I also believe it will change for the better some day - hang in there!

I wish I knew more about certain things, I love the SS stuff but I haven't handled all that much (and I collect it!) I jus don't believe in adding my 2 cents in unless I am fairly sure I know what I am taking about.

Funny thing is, I don't really promote the forum to my local friends, I kind of look at it like en edge that I have on collecting, which these days have become very cut throat.

Is the band of your hat velvet or cloth? is it black or super dark green (under sunlight) I have one very similar, I never looked to see if it was marked on the sweatband.

Dear Kim,
Do you have a better photo of the Wagner sweatband stamp that shows the full inscription?

Kim,

I like your cap. I own two WSS EM's that display similar characteristics.
I look forward to hearing Derek's input on the Wagner sweatband stamp.
The one thing that makes me a bit suspicious is just the loosness of the stitching.
Here are a few pictures of mine for reference. The materials are very similar.

Doug,
Thanks for posting your extremely nice example. Does it have any date stamps under the band?

Derek,
I wish I could tell you, but the cap is in storage. Next time I get it out, I'll take a look.

This is not a Clemens Wagner, but a visor cap I have in my collection. Always a treat to look at these kind of caps.

Thanks for comments. And nice to see other good
caps.
Derek I have tried to enlarge the photo of the stamp. I dont know if it is any better.
The loosness of the stitching is just there, it has come loose.
The cap band is felt / cloth and it is all black.
The photo came out wrong, I`ll try again later.

I`m not able to get a good photo of the stamp.
I have tried to make some out of it:
"Clemens Wagner
Mtzenfabrikation
Braunschweig 1
Bltenweg 72-73"

It look like it is more to the stamp. But it is impossible to tell if it`s text or just smudging from the stamp beeing folded over years.
