thanks - also never seen. it's got a brushed 'sheen' and seems to be STEEL(?!) with no mark on back just a thin safety pin soldered in place....
ever hear of steel used or mayber it's just a finish that's supposed to look that way. BTW it's pretty big: 1 1/2X 2 1/4

ok - got the box now! eagle lid, leatherette, sort of 'furry' red interior (hmmm?), the top is off-white satin/silk, no marks, the badge fits perfectly (there's a raised area for it to sit on - same size as badge - and an indent or recess for the horizontal pin on the badge's back)
and there's an impression of it AND what was also in the box for decades: miniature party service medal - buttonhole device!

thanks gaspare - I respect your expert insights.
what I find quite odd is what resembles stainless steel like a kitchen sink (!) and the 'red fur' lining! but again, the badge fits it perfectly.
and by the way it's not magnetic.
what tinnies come in boxes???

thanks luko.
I wonder if this is a box for something else 'party' that got adapted in the period for this badge? I gently lifted out the red-covered 'interference-fit' lining and it looks totally period and typical but isn't marked.
you can't see it in the pix but there's a raised area the size of the badge in the center with a horizontal recess for the pin to fit into. also you can't see the badge's impression made in the box top's white silk or satin liner.
anyone else have good/bad things to say please bring it on!

My Thoughts......
#1 I would like to see the reverse of this badge. Please post a reverse view.
#2 - If the case is original, which I doubt in the present format, I doubt very much that this case is the corresponding case for this badge. I don't believe that there were any genuine cases having a red, fuzzy material interior.

john - perhaps the case was damaged at some point? as mentioned there's a raised section in the middle, just the size of the badge. maybe it's original but the vulgar covering, isn't?
have you seen a badge that looks like this one?
cheers,
inimicus

Found it! It is in Manions Vol.4 Tinnies of 3r reich,,pg.42
Description:
"Occasional badge honoring the senior administrators of the party through their own special Amts-tag."
Well, at least you know it is not a fantasy piece! ,,no word about a box though...........

I can say only, that this kind of safety pins were used on period tinnies.

D , No values in book, nor about box, or even what kind of material piece is made from. Book dated 1989.
Hold on to it, something will eventually come up on the box/piece.

I have heard of presentation event badges. Have seen a few examples. But have no indepth knowledge of them.
The fuzzy case interior does not match anything I've seen before. Could we see it up close?

i AGREE with Joe every now and again you come across a high grade specimen of what otherwise is a common event tinnie and I do not think there is any doubt that special badges where made for higher level presentation
