Today was a good day for my collection. I got a very nice group of photos from the SA. I start with two signed portraits of Standartenführer Lohbeck, leader of the Standarte 39 "Schlageter" Signature also on the back: For these two photos I need some help ! Can anybody here verify the signature ? I do not have any doubts of these writings being period or not, but it may be possible that these are not signatures rather than somebody wrote the name on the photos just to identify the person. However, on the second photo there is the signature also on front and only the lastname, so that looks like a signature to me. More photos from the lot: SA-man Willy 1935 Sturmbannübung 1934 Sturm 13 Murnau 1933 Detail of the above Journey to the Reichsparteitag 1934 After swearing the oath (Amtswalter-Vereidigung) in Munich 1934 Sturmbannführer Bartholomäus 1935 in Munich Marching through Giesing ( Giesing is a part of Munich where many working class people were living and being known as a fortress of the communists ) 1932 Hope You enjoy the show. And maybe somebody can tell me about the signature. Kind regards Robert

Great pictures!
Lohbeck leads St.39 till 1-1-'34, after that he lead Brigade 75, and was promoted to Oberführer 15-2-'34. On 15-8-'34 he was placed zur Verfugüng der Gruppe Niederrhein. In March 1937 he was moved to the OSAF Stab. Promoted to Brigadeführer, 9-11-'37. To Gruppenführer on 9-11-'42.
Best,
Laurens

Robert: I believe that SA-mann Willy 1935 is a member of 16 Company Liebstandarte SA stationed in Hochland, I think at Munich. This is the SA Body Guard. I have an SA Dagger with the crossguard marked 2L for the second company. They used the Motto: Treue um Treue and This is on the dagger's crossguard. Not an easy unit to find. The SA Mann Willy, who in fact is an Obertruppführer, was a member of Standarte 16 'List', Gruppe Hochland. This Standarte had their residence in München, Eintrachtstraße 11/III. The Leibstandarte used another style L whithout number.

Laurens

Laurens, I understand everything you state here, but I know that the SA Leibstandarte DID use numbers. The L was a script L, but they also had numbers with it: eg. 2/L. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria

Yes the use numbers for the Sturm or Sturmbann, but what I mean was not for Standarte.

As usual, those are fantastic photos, Robert! I sent you an e-mail and PM, by the way. The signatures are those of Lohbeck. Erich

Can someoen please tell me what and where would have been a photo group of 60-70 SA men with the caption:
"SA-Sturm R4/14a, R4/14, 4R/14 1.11.1933 - 16.5.1935"
Thanks

Hi Dave,
There were several Standartes with number 14. R4/14 stands for Reservesturm 4 of Standarte 14. Could you post the picture?
Best,
Laurens
