Dear All,
I purchased a Waffen SS lot from Detlev last week (see pic). Including this lot was a ring, my question is, what kind of ring is this?
According Detlev these items belong to a Wiking officer who was a pow at the end of the war.
Thanks and best regards,
Rene

I scanned this ring because I do not get clear pics with my camera.
Best regards,
Rene

Thats a very interesting grouping. Wartime, postwar, German , Soviet.
The ring although very worn is one I recognize.. Solid silver,It would have poppy flowers on the sides.. It is a good known period pattern ring..
Like everything else they reproduce everything including this ring. Looking at the group ,,if everything else is good I'd say the ring is good also.. Please, if you'd like when you get a chance post a few more photos of it. Any markings on/in the band? ..Thanks , G.

Hello Gaspare, as for me I would say the buckle is a late war original one zink made by Emil Juettner. Best Ric

Dear Gaspare and Ric,
Many thanks for your reply.
Yes the other items are real see pics.
About the ring I tried to make some extra pics with my camera but I do not think it realy was a succes.
There is a marking inside: 800
Were these private purchased rings? are they rare?
It seems that this officer was in POW camp after the war in Regensburg.
What those Soviet medals are doing in here I do not know.
According Detlev there was also a photo album included (no name inside) but this album was sold separately.
Thanks and best regards,
Rene

Photos aren't the best but the ring looks O.K. ,,worn and maybe polished too much its still a nice piece... The 2 most valuable pieces are probably the Buckle and SS skull cap device [check skull in SS forum!]... There's a lanyard on the right and what looks like 2 cap chinstraps bottom left..Shoulder boards, couple belt attachments,,2 Soviet pieces [that enamel is an old one].. Black wound badge and to the left of it looks like a postwar SS reunion or supporter type stic pin for HIAG or Wiking division??
,, and that wood piece is very interesting!. I can't figure out its purpose but he made an edelweiss out of wire OR solder pieces and burned in his POW camp name.. Regensburg I'm pretty sure was a wartime POW camp in Germany that housed the Allied soldiers!. They probably used it postwar to then hold German prisoners.. Nice grouping you got there Rene....Thanks for showing us..,G.

Dear Gaspare and Benten,
Many thanks for your replies.
One final question about the ring, these were private purchased rings? I mean anyone could buy them?
Thanks and best regards,
Rene

Rene,, Its a private purchase ring.. Anyone could have bought it if they had the money. Widely popular in all branchs of the military service and advertised in military branch newspapers and sold in military supply shops.. Soldiers were usually the buyers ,owners and recipients of these type rings....,G.

Hi Rene, The ring looks good to me too. Here's mine, also worn and coincidentally from a grouping with an SS tab, (that I didn't get unfortunately). Still looking for a less worn one myself.
Cheers, Ryan Ehrenring
