Hello Nacho,

IMO nobody knows the exact lenght of the Romanian NCO daggers, because there were numerous native makers.
The Solingen made examples have a standard lenght, but the Romanian ones don't.
For example: my Hörster made Romanian NCO dagger is 31.5 cm with scabbard, while another, native maker dagger is 26 cm with scabbard.

I am a little confused because the reference is to Romanian Bayonets. Janos is absolutely correct on the Romanian NCO daggers. Almost no two are alike.

The one I saw is 21,5 cm total length, beautiful one with red eyes and complete with original frog & portpee, BTW which is the correct portpee for this one? Best regards.

Couple of pics sent from National Military Museum in Bucharest. I also looked at a couple of these in Sibiu-Transylvania that had the bronze blades with nickle wash.

No problem with this one - a nice original dagger with bayonet-type hanger and portepee.
What kind of cypher is on the obverse grip: Carol or Michael?

Hi Janos! It's a pity but the cypher is missing, you can see the grip is damaged when someone pull it off. In all the total length is 25,5 cm so near match yours (1 cm less!) is a beauty, blade unmarked but has the both red eyes, complete hangers and the original portpee with his golden acorn, there's any kind of knot for this model? Best regards.

Hi Nacho,
I took photos of mine - it is the twin of your dagger.
Mine has "M" cypher on the grip. Blade is unmarked.
The upper dagger is a Hörster example with very nice etched blade. Quality is way better than native made daggers. (And the price is way higher. Smile )
Your dagger is 100% correct and the condition is great. Congarulation.

Nacho and Janos:

These are very nice... not something you see everyday.

Nacho,
yes, I think your dagger had the M cypher.

JohnZ,
thank you for your kind words.
IMO these etched non-German daggers are so underrated and underpriced.
These are the highest Solingen quality.

One of the amazing things about Romanian daggers is that no two are alike..

I suspect yours is ok. Teh one at the beginning of this thread with the wood grips is suspect, but original.
