http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6618...e=2#ebayphotohostingThis dagger is being offered by someone from Oshawa Canada by a seller with zero feedback. Be very cautious if you decide to bid as this is where the last Canadian scammer was from that several of us are still waiting to get our money back from.

Philsw,
You may not be that person that we are thinking about, but so many people have been burned from someone in Ontario, that we are all very cautious, especially with a zero feedback. No disrespect intended but I wouldn't buy from anyone that has a zero feedback. Yes, you are also a member on GDC with........ 1 posting. Just my opinion. Since you have been collecting for so long ( 15 years you're saying ), I just find it real strange that this is your first posting ever on this forum. Where have you been all those years and why are you only posting today for the first time ??? I would still be very wary, too many unusual "hints" to make me feel confortable.

This person has so much in common with a few snakes "inside the wire". Why does everyone dwell on "outsiders" when we have so much to worry about, internally........

I don't understand why everyone must post here? Some don't want to bother posting. With over 5000 members???? and only 50-100 on line at anytime we know we have lurkers. So this is his first post he's I.D.himself and if he didn't come back I wouldn't wonder why.People had better look at who's still looking at the site a lot of "old timers"have left.Don't understand Denny's post either what does it mean?Yes I can understand the concern of the members when a flag go's up on a sell.We do have Founding members who have very few post.

ED You're right as I Meant no disrespect or to cast shadows on philsw. I don't know the gentleman and he is above board as far as I'm concerned at this point......
I was trying to point out that we have enough internal Snakes to worry about without worrying about this guy.......

There are a lot of this Ebay scums going on, even with feedback and from Ontario too. The tail is going over a black box office in germany (a company that doean't exist) and the bank accounts are in Russia. So the Ebay seller is getting commisons ...
But I guess I am not allone with this experience.
The very interesting part is this that my US County Police dep. didn't start to work on it and neither the Ont. Canadian Police Dep. conclusion = scums and lazy butts are everywhere lately and this nationwide.

Philsw should be considered innocent until there are indications he is not what he appears to be and says he is. I find it something of a coincidence, however, that he is not only in Ontario, but in Oshawa, as well. Oshawa is the home of the now infamous Joseph Farkas, aka. Farkas has pled guilty and is to reimburse those he defrauded. Are the items philsw has for sale actually those of Farkas? Did Farkas fail to disclose to the authorities he owns such items? If philsw is "legit," it's too bad he is tainted by Farkas because of his location. I have seen philsw's ads on eBay and was tempted to bid, but the "Oshawa connection" scares me. I am getting tired of eBay crooks and those who may be crooks, and will not risk any more of my money taking chances on anything slightly suspicious. Yes, there are crooks all over the world, including in the USA, but there is a chance, slight though it is, of some legal action in the US by US buyers who get burned. Except for the sterling example of Det. David Robinson in Oshawa, I have received little or no interest or assistance from law enforecment agencies outside the US. Do you know the Italian police will ONLY take a criminal complaint in person? I do, because I tried to make one. Don't expect much help from the US Department of State, either. Their pat answer is "it's a civil matter" and you need to hire a lawyer in the country where the crook lives.

I'm the one that originally posted the link indicating that one should be very careful in dealing with this person who has no feedback and is from the infamous town of Oshawa. He may be legit. and I agree with what grumpy posted above but I don't think anyone wants to go thru what Grumpy, John F,Myself and others have gone through over the last couple of years. Jim

I agree,be very careful with this guy. Another interesting point to note is that he registered on Ebay in 2004 ,and he is only just selling his first iem, with no confimed buys either ? The Farkas scams were all executed in 2004 ,including the scam against myself. Now Farkas is free to do as he pleases again I would not be at all surprised if he had a few pieces left that the police did not/could not confiscate. I did hear that they did not sieze all his militaria as some of it could not be tied to any particular case. I am due to recieve my item, care of the Ontario police force today via Fed Ex ,2 years after I was taken by Farkas. Please guys just don't bother with this dagger, infact beware anyone living in that area, sorry for those who may be legit but a '0' ebay rating Registered in 2004 ,just don't go there.

Who said anything about quilt or innocense? I just wont get involved...that way if he is one or the other...it makes no difference...just being cautious...and I hope all the fellows who are convinced that he is "innocent" send him your money...Roland

The seller also registered on this site in Dec 2004, but never posted. If he is the bad guy, he read all the posts about the case as it unfolded. Then again, he may be an OK guy. Who knows? Mark

I would appreciate Phil posting his name, an address (no post office box, please) and telephone number. That would help establish his credibilty and he may benefit by removing any clouds over his intentions.

I was going to suggest this exact same thing myself Grumpy but,and I know many legit individuals who won't do this because of security concerns, so I didn't. However he should have NO problem privately emailing one of us this information so he can be contacted! Jim

I got a private email from Phil and after reading it along with some provided pictures I believe he is 100% legit. I suggested he start posting here but apparentely he is a very private but long term colllector and wishes to remain that way. This guy is IMO NOT Frank and whoever "Frank" may be is trying to pull an Ebay scam and sell something he doesn't own. Jim

My suggestion to you, Phil, if you're out there, is that if you are going to establish yourself as an ebay seller and attempt to get top dollar for your items, is to buy and sell a number of lower dollar items to establish credibility via a feedback profile first. I am in the process of doing just that on gunbroker.com, selling clips and sights and such in an attempt to build a reputation before I put any of my collector rifles on the site. Scared or unsure bidders will not bid full value until they are confidant they can trust you. That in turn can lead you to believe that ebay is not a good selling format, which, of course, it is.
And, to you prospective bidders on such items, I suggest using paypal's money back guarantee. On a 2K item, it is a way better insurance, and a small price to pay for piece of mind, plus, they actually reimburse you quickly unlike the never ending fiasco of USPS package insurance.
I have been an ebay seller since 1998, so take this as experienced advice.
