Hi I'd like to hear you opinions on this SE64 Police Combat helmet. Batch number is 7597. It's pretty beat up - guess that it has been THERE Thanks

Yes - it is on WAF but I can't ask the members there due to a update of the system...

I admit that the helmet is REALLY beat up and look burned.
But couldn't this be because of a hard combat history ?
What's by the way a "Norgie reissue" ?

the liner shows the distinct colour of a liner re issued to the Norwegians after the war.the deep red/brown colour.

It doesn't look like the liner hasn't been removed, though.

Just a quick question. Did M-40 helmets come with brass split rivits? I thought only the M35 had these.

I am sorry to tell you that this helmet is a not so clever fake. Why? All the reasons mentioned above. The rivits are not rippled from removal because they are not original and been put in with the post WWII Norwegian liner. Whoever cooked the decals did a very poor job. Also the paint has a lot of wear to the body but no significant wear to the rim of the helmet. I hope you do not have much invested in it.

liner leather has indeed been removed as evidenced by the seam at the side as opposed to the rear as stated previously, leather has been dyed by the Norwegians prior to re-issue & new liner pins added in place of the Norgy brass domed pins.decals are poorly aged.

Raymond,
Nickel plated brass rivets were made up to and including 1940. These will be found in some transitional M40,s untill existing stocks were exhausted and steel became the predominant rivet material.
I personally have an NS M40 with a 1941 werner zahn aluminium liner band and 1940 dated nickel plated brass rivets. This is a very late transitional as its batch number is in the 8000,s.

Here are two pictures of the decals. For comparison I include two pictures of the decals on my ORIGINAL M40 combat police (on the right side). The liner might be Norwegian - but I must admit that it's a bit hard (for me) to see that the decals aren't OK. The swastika side looks OK - but the eagle looks a bit white and wrong in the head, though. These continuous questions about originality is by the way the reason I'm quitting this hobby Looking forward to your response.
