Dave,

Upgrades are good!

This one looks a lot better than the first one.

A nice eagle.

Very nice Dave. Were these 3 feather types used by specific units or just used at random?

I've not seen one of these outside period photos!

Best,

Marcus

Dear Marcus,

So far we have located three period photos, two panzer SchPo on black and one SchuPo on a green uniform. I have a Gendarmerie orange eagle. Most of those found have been like this one green on gray for the technical branch of the Luftschutzpolizei.

There is no known reason why these were made, as the maker clearly made "normal" 6 feather eagles of the same design. They almost seem to be an "option" that the buyer could elect to use. It appears reasonable to expect to find these in all branch colors, but so far only the two colors mentioned have surfaced to date.

Of course I would be very suspicious should they start appearing in a rainbow of colors after this post!

Regards,
William Unland

Dave nice eagle did you get it from Jessens relics?

Bill at least not all of this type are on luft blue, and not all are that type of eagle. mine has a different head and wings and is a very thick weave. I am surprised you have not found one of this type yet. Has anyone got this type of 3 wing?

Gary,

Actually, yours is the only one I have ever seen like that. I would very much like to find one for the reference collection. Same "basic" pattern but different execution. Very nice.

Vigs,

Any chance to see a straight on scan of yours?

Thank you for going to all the trouble.

I have not seen an eagle like this before. Very different execution but clearly based on the same pattern as those above.

Very interesting.
