I see no obvious authenticity problems. A clear close-up of a skull chain link would help a lot.

I'm in agreement with Grumpy. If I had any criticism it's that it almost looks too good. But this could the one in one thousand (or better) example that was preserved under optimal conditions. As was suggested some more pictures I think will help in making a better assessment. FP

Thank you for comments! Everything else is ok with this dagger, only I'm worry about engraved letters. Specially letters T and first e in word Treue - I never saw so bad engavier-work before. Regarding leo from Estland

LeoT, welcome to the forum! The inscription on the blade is not engraved but etched. The etching looks totally legit and period what I can see on the pic. I have seen much less quality etched blades (e.g. David Malsch elite guard daggers).

LeoT, if you do examine any dagger through a magnifying glass or, as here, by heavily enlarged pics, something might look strange. Detailed pics are very very helpful but you should not forget that any dagger was produced by workers by pure eyesight and were produced for the pure eyesight (as english is not my mother language I am not sure if I did choose the right words but I hope you understand what I want to express). There is some "pimpling" within the etching which is quite common and there are some minute (for the pure eye) imperfections which are also common in my opinion. I cannot see any red flags concerning this etching. In the other pics I also cannot see any red flags concerning the other parts of your dagger. What I can see is a typical later Mod.36 dagger with "Type 2" chain, plated fittings and blued scabbard. Tpical in this configuration. I have seen a lot of unquestionable daggers in real which were produced in this certain configuration. Regards

This dagger is a winner. I have NEVER seen any fakes with the copper underplating of the SS button and the grip eagle-typical of one manufacturer of these M36 SS Daggers that I have handled over time directly from veterans. Also, the condition of this example is super. A NICE FIND. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria

Leo, Your dreams should be very pleasant ones. Ive seen standard late political daggers that were in basically new condition, but at this late date to see a virtually untouched M1936 to me is amazing and a 1/1000 find. And if Ron Weinand thinks its super you definitely have a keeper. FP

Wotan, If English is not your native language I am extremely impressed! I know from experience the difficulties of mastering a second language. You have nearly mastered what is supposed to be the most difficult language to learn! Best Wishes, Bob

RFI, thank you very much for your kind words. But I think the english language is not such a diffucult language, otherwise it would not have developd as one of the "world languages" . My knowledge of the english language only bases on long ago "school English" slightly improved. Kind regards,
