Hi guys, i picked up this nice Holler army a couple of weeks back. Apart from the usual customs fun i only recived it on fiday and to my surprise when i opened it up the fittings appear golden? the wash (if it is that) appears to have worn where the portepee would have been and doesnt look to have been added recently. Is it gold wash or patina? thoughts...

It is heavily patined because of the high silver content. A very nice dagger.

Looks like patina to me. FYI, this piece has a Holler Crossguard but the scabbard resembles an early Eickhorn variety.

Me think that some time ago the crossguard was polished (maybe by the proud 1st owner) and we can see the brass under the silver finishing and patina.

It doesn't look like gold.
Compare it to a navy dagger, or a gilt sabre hilt and you,ll see the difference.
