Does anyone remember Bob Waite? I am sure that perhaps many of you do. A friend told me about him several years ago, said he had about the most extensive collection of daggers and swords imaginable. I have seen his name in a book by Tom Wittmann also.
I understand that Mr Waite has passed on. What ever happened to his collection? Was his collection really as big as my friend told me?

Chip Gambino showed me some pictures of Bob's Collection once ..it was amazing. I don't know if it's true but ,I heard the courts had tied it up because some of his Corporate Funds were used to build it. Chip was a close friend of his and I'm sure he knows exactly what happened...hopefully he'll chime in here and answer your question.

Thank You Mike. Will be looking forward to his reply. I remember that Mr Waite had something to do with Holograms I believe? It would figure that courts would get involved though.

His Company invented that little Hologram they have on most Credit Cards and collected Royalties for every one used. He's remembered as being a real Gentleman and a credit to the Hobby.

He didn't invent the hologram, just an economical way to put them on credit cards. That helped him make a fortune. Mark

Getting more info by the hour now. I just spent a good hour looking into Credit Ccard Holograms and found out the outfit that provides the holograms to Visa, et al, is "American Bank Note Holographics, Inc.". This company is in NJ BTW as is Wittmann who apparently had a super relatiuonship with Mr Waite. Was Mr Waite from NJ? What was the name of his company? This guy is proving quite interesting. After seeing all the magnificent daggers, etc here, I thought of Mr Waite.

I didn't go into depth before so ..here's his Company Profile -- American Bank Note Holographics, Inc.. The Company's principal activities are to originate, produce, market and sell holograms. The holograms products are used primarily for security applications such as counterfeiting protection for credit and authentication of transaction cards, identification cards and documents of value and consumer products. It also produce non-secure holograms for design, promotional applications and other decorative applications. The products are used by over 200 companies worldwide, including MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Sears, Nordstrom, Quaker State, Sony, Nike, Eli Lilly, and Janssen-Cilag as well as the United States government and other governments and companies.

Yep, Thanks Mike. I kinda thought that was the outfit he was with from all I read. I read about all there is on the company. Quite an outfit too! I can see the "whys and wherefores" of Bob's successs!
I wish that I were as lucky to have a collection like I hear he had. But, alas, one day we all gotta go and leave the stuff behind! CRAP! I have gotten my daughter to at least realize what the stuff is and NOT to get screwed if and when she dumps the stuff. About all you can do I guess. She isn't entranced with it as I am. Of course, I keep most of it in my safe, have for years now. Shame too as I would like to display it. Maybe one day.
An old friend lost about 4 to 5 dozen cherry daggers and swords plus a lot of medals and firearms in a fire about, oh I guess 3,4 years ago when his house burned down in No San Bernardino. That's when I sprung for a safe!

What year die this Master die? I mean MASTER from what I've heard. A true Master of Our Arts!
What, if anyone knows, was the malady that took him out? In these days and IF he was indeed from the "Chemical Capital of the World", NJ, I would assume and I HATE that word, cancer?
I left NJ in 1967, from No Jersey.
