Folks,
Take a look at this set, what do you think?. The box looks as though it was made yesterday and with uncreased tissue paper!. They are being hiked as original, note the squared lower clasp fitting.........any thoughts?

As nobody tries I will try: These boxes (with hangers inside) occasionally occur on german shows and are looked at as modern repros by all of these experienced guys also american visitors.
I personally have a boxed dagger and the condition of the box with itīs 60+ age does look quite different Wink
Generally this group shown here does look brand new and therefore imo IS brand new.
Sorry, no facts.

wotan,
Thankyou for your opinion, It was my initial reaction as well although I was far from sure, accoutrements have never been my strong point!
Out of interest does anybody know if period hangers exist with the squared lower clasp fitting?.
Regards

Yes--they do exist and are quite common. These hangers without the box would probably pass hand inspection especially if sewed properly with non glowing thread. They may even be new old stock with added new boxes. As Wotan says--unknown for sure if original --but suspect.
